TexasPRfan
Hmmm. Many to choose from. Somewhat in order: 96 Regiment 99 Vanguard 90 Star of Indiana 91 Regiment 11 Bluecoats 03 Regiment 97 SCV (if that was the On the Waterfront year...) 00 Blue Devils 12 Crossmen (this one could definitely rise...) NR_Ohiobando
I'm sure many of you have your favorite openers of all-time. Would love to hear which ones I should put on my playlist for a road trip I am about to take... Here is my favorite: '92 Cavaliers (Gavorkna Fanfare) Here is my favorite homer corps opener: '91 Bluecoats (Nutville!!!!) YES! 91 Coats' Nuttville is a legendary chart, especially with those 2 screamers ripping apart the sop range. I keep waiting for the year when the staff brings this chart back, especially with the hornlines Bloo puts out nowadays.
vferrera
1983 Madison scouts- colas bogueon(sp) overture G OMG least favorite music I played in corps. but thanks for the props! My #1 = Slaughter MS 75/82. No comparison. #2 Channel One. #3 Rocky Point From a historical perspective, 74 Cavaliers (Carmen). Brass judge (Dave Richards?) threw his clipboard at the opening hit. Quite possibly saved the corps. Other notables - Bully 67 Cavaliers.

NakedEye
I don't think 1992 Cadets mentioned yet? Opening slow change to bird shape! Airplane with propellers! Silent flag feature! Giant sound! Crazy fast!
Splooie99
A lot of good ones listed and I love the word ‘best’ because there can be several ‘best’ That said, one for the list, 1980 (also 79 / 81) Spirit of Atlanta – Georgia – starts off with a nice solo and at the hit, you knew they arrived... about 75 seconds of drum corps bliss Definately one of my most favorite off the starting line corps too. SOA horn line was just plain Nuts. I would also have to agree that overall opener. Garfield 83 was very cool.
sacrificialclown
Favorite opener, homer or not: El Toro Caliente '95 Scouts This, and I'll also go with '91 bluecoats. Probably wore that track out on my discman. Edited July 25, 2012 by sacrificialclown
skevinp
I thought the top 3 in 1996 (Phantom, Blue Devils, Cadets) were all awesome, and in completely different ways.
