There's a few hotels within walking distance, there's a Holiday Inn Express less than half a mile east that we stayed at in 2011. Walk was a little hot on the way, but not bad at all on the way back. If you get there about 30 mintues before the gates open, you should be fine, we did that in 2012. If you get there late, like me last year, you will find no parking in the Alamodome, but you can pay for parking at Bill Miller's Barbecue right across the street south of the Dome, which is what we did last year. It was less than 20$. If you don't pay them and get a pass to put in your window, plan on getting towed.
