Ghost
Get as many volunteers as possible with seven passenger vehicles to take fans to the corps housing sites to observe 3-4 hours of a corps day. Get them there around 11AM. Have the corps they visit hand the visitors a 10% discount to be used that night at the corps souvie truck. Find out what corps sections interest the visitors and have mm of those sections spend some time with them, maybe during lunch. If those visitors are going to the show, escort them to that corps warm up area. Nice idea G that you and your group are doing.
Liahona
So, here's our big DCP announcement. A new show format! Please help spread the word! www.emeraldcitygames.org Nine food trucks serving dinner for two hours before the Dublin show. Entertainment during the "dinner hours" by The Saints, DCI Soundsport team and the Watkins Memorial High School drum line. The concept is to get fans to the stadium earlier to eat and peruse the souvies, and to get foodies not necessarily familiar with drum corps there to try the food and, hopefully, buy a ticket to the show. If you Facebook, please repost. If you Twitter, please Tweet about our "dinner and a show" concept. We also have the Ohio's Fastest Drummer competition sponsored by Columbus Percussion. What else can we do to make our show day more of a community event and get those not familiar with drum corps to come to the stadium? Looking for ideas as well as critique! Hope your event is a HUGE success! Sounds like a awesome idea to me and if I was local to the area would definitely attend the show...I usually purchase my tickets WAY in advance for shows..usually October or whenever they go on sale though...I wish they had something cool like this for the two day Allentown show... Love food trucks...great and different. Question though. Historically ( not that it has to be this way ) sponsors of shows summer and winter made their money on things like food and other additives, usually never on ticket sales, aren't you actually losing alot of revenue? Just asking, or is the idea to get more butts in seats ?

The folks running the show will definitely want those buying food to also buy a show ticket and support the corps.

It was to draw in more people to a gallery..It was a huge success for the town, thousands of people who rarely visit downtown at night . The gallery did get more visitors/ not very many but certainly more than before BUT the area of the trucks was mobbed. Maybe a package like Dinner voucher and the show for 1 price...just a thought

Just asking, or is the idea to get more butts in seats ? We've always allowed the booster concessions to sell the food at the show, although it's never been a great success. The food is mediocre (pizza, dogs, etc) and, no matter how efficient the stadium layout and the short time for intermission, few people actually made it to the concession stand. We do show sponsorships and program ads but our biggest revenue source is tickets. The singular goal is to get more BITS.

This year, the only vouchers we're using are to feed the judges.

Nominal flat fee, plus we gave each truck 10 tickets from the "value" sections (wing seats) for free to use in promotional give-aways as the chose.
