DCI on Google Maps?

Recommended Posts

Oh my dear lord.

So I was looking at Google Maps for Lucas Oil Stadium, and I started to zoom in on the parking lot on the south end of the stadium.

Can't say for sure, but it almost looks like the picture was taken when drum corps was in their lot.

Check it out!

Well, there are clearly three pits laid out, so it's some kind of marching show. Based on the semis, I wouldn't doubt it. Something in this vein I saw recently: while looking at J. Birney Crum stadium on Google Maps, it was overlaid with the words "drum corps". I just checked and it's gone now.

Directly south of the southeast corner of the stadium, you see all of the souvie vehicles lined up. On the west end of the parking lot, you see the photo "stands" setup for the full corps pictures :)

It's likely Q-finals/Prelims day!

Check out Military Park to the northwest of the stadium.

There's a guard warming up just to the southwest of the building, and there's a corps arced up in the northwest corner of the park.

There's also a row of buses lined up on W. New York St. (Probably shuttle buses for fans).

Based on the long shadows I'd say it's about 9am.

Very cool.

It's too bad that the "street view" pictures weren't taken at the same time as the overhead pictures. Otherwise one could just plant themselves on the street and walk around looking to see whose buses are whose.

And too bad the roof wasn't open. Wouldn't that be cool?

Too funny. I pulled Google Maps up on my MacBook, and it's a totally different shot of LOS. I was like, "You all are a bunch of lying liars who lie."

Then, it dawned on my to try my PC. Sure enough, Google Maps comes up with a totally different shot, and there's all the pits and guards and archs.
