Fan Network - Why have you forsaken me?

Recommended Posts

Yea, just keep telling yourself that, eh?

Lisa Ann (whoever she is) seems to be very popular up there.

I think I know what you are referring to now. We don't call it porno here. It is referred to as "Fun Party Sexy Time."

In fact, we have a popular television show called "Canada's Favorite Fun Party Sexy Time Videos."

Down here we call it "Canada's Got Talent".

The difference there would be in whether one had already paid for a service before feeling entitled to its fulfillment.

Except no one ever promised you every video from every show regardless of copyright issues.

But you knew that already, didn't you? After all, there's been content removed from the DCI FN for copyright issues on a regular basis.

Oh.

Nevermind.

I didn't read the fine print, no. Fine print is for scoundrels to weasel out of deals that they are happy for you to NOT take the time to read the fine print about.

You'd be rather less sanguine if your internet connection quit working for six days over the next month after you'd already PAID for 30 days of service, only to find that the word "promise" didn't appear in the service contract.

Of course not.. they'd howl. Also, would you be surprised to learn that probably more than one poster here with a sanquine attitude on this loss of content, doesn't even subscribe to DCI's FN, and doesn't give DCI a dime on this? and never have ? That'd be such an irony, now wouldn't it ? I wouldn't be surprised if thats the case with some of these posters too that show little to no concern for this loss with their fellow DCI fans. The attitude seems to be with some ( not all ) that since THEY don't watch or care for the old shows that were available until Friday, or that they don't subscribe to DCI's FN, and its not their money, they could care less about YOUR loss, your sadness, your frustation, your anger, or whatever. Afterall, this doesn't effect them one iota, so its of little to no concern to them. As such, they want you to shut up and stop complaining about the terrible way DCI has handled this with their customers. Thats what behind this, my guess, at least in some quarters anyway, imo.

So it's more important to you to be happy than having to possibly see thousands, if not millions paid in copyright and legal fees?

Wow.

I thought I've seen some elitist views before on here, but you my friend take the cake.

Yes, Dan Acheson dropped the ball in trying to protect Madison, SCV, Blue Devils, and all the other corps and DCI from having to face legal action, which could include fines and jail time.

If you're going to get upset and be mad at how DCI handled this, maybe learn something about copyright and you'd understand that major issues arise overnight and often have to be dealt with in unconventional ways.

I am sorry but you have confused something that I was talking about. When I said I wasn't worried about legal issues, I was referring to the comments that subscribers could sue DCI for not giving them the full content they felt should be on thefannetwork. I understand that legal issues probably caused DCI to pull those videos, and while disappointed about it, realize there is nothing that can be done about it. However, it would only take a couple of minutes to have a statement on thefannetwork letting peoplle know that several videos have been pulled. I honestly believe as a paying customer we have the right to be told at least that much. obviously if they have responded to subscribers that have emailed, then there is no legal issue in letting people/subscribers know that information. Things like that are unfortunate, but they happen. I don't think anyone wants to see DCI fold, we just want better management. The number of people that follow DCI is a fairly small amount, compared to many other activities. Adn the number of those people who are willing to spend larger amounts of money to attend shows and subscribe to thefannetwork is even smaller. The changes to the activity have lost some of the fans, and brought in some new ones. Thefannetwork does kind of bridge that gap, since it mixes the live events with the old style of drum corps in the archives. Who cares whether 10% or 80% enjoy the archived material as opposed to the live broadcasts. DCI with a simple statement could at least acknowledge that there is a situation, even if they don't go into a lot of details about it. Again, that is customer service that DCI has lost, especially over the last decade.

Right because it's small print, even though it's not.

It's a standard user agreement that virtually every digital format has.

As for your internet company 6 day ########, that's completely different since you have no service.

Do you have zero FN abilities? No, ok. Then you're wrong.

Why don't all people ###### about the FN take a look, it's not hard to find that 100% has never been offered.

But yeah, #### DCI for reacting to immediate requests they were given and #### them for listening to their lawyer. They should have no regard for the law because some ###### off elitist fans say so.

Tell me, would those if you ###### because they haven't made a statement due to legal advice to not get sued, would you tell a person standing trial to make a statement regardless of whether that could potentially harm them?

Makes perfect sense to me, MisterA. ( but apparently not to one or 2 others here it would appear )
