Quad Aces
We're dealing with copyright law here. Any misstep in a public release could mean massive fines and potential jail time. Even in a simple email to subscribers. So they're waiting to make sure their wording and timing is correct from a legal standpoint. Same would hold true in any other business or legal matter. And once again, they are under no obligation to say anything to any subscriber due to their terms of agreement. Would it be nice for them to say something, yes. Will they say something, yes. Will they give a full recount of all that happened, possibly. Why, simple. It's a complicated matter that dealt with incorrectly from a legal side will not just change DCI, but all corps, BOA, WGI, etc. Be patient people Then, based on that logic, why is DCI explaining to angry customers who e-mail them what happened? Assuming they are in fact doing that - I have no knowledge of this, and am only going off of what I am reading here. tesmusic
Then, based on that logic, why is DCI explaining to angry customers who e-mail them what happened? Assuming they are in fact doing that - I have no knowledge of this, and am only going off of what I am reading here. There's a difference between a mass email or contact and answering an individual's question off the record. DCI is also not giving all details to those individuals, instead giving some information for understanding but leaving out major details. It's a tactical move to prevent fines and lawsuits. They are following legal council and that is a smart move for all directly involved from the business side of things.
BRASSO
Legitimate question: how does e-mailing a customer base alerting them to content being removed from FN open DCI up to fines and other punishments? As was mentiomed earlier, DCI seems to be doing just that when someone contacts them asking for some sorr of explanation. If they can do one-offs, why can't they let ALL of their cutomers know? DCI is notifying customers when those customers email DCI. So the" facts " as alleged on here that DCI was under some legal restraint to not notify all FN subscribers while they were simulataneously ( or before ) deleting dozens of shows, is not only not "the facts ", it is sheer, and utter nonsense. There is zero evidence to support the claim on here that DCI could not legally notify FN subscribers on what they were about to do ( or do ). DCI's very own actions ( responding to email inquiries, complaints, etc ) tells us in no uncertain terms that DCI could have notified ALL FN Subscribers in a proactive fashion had they chose to. DCI apologists like to weave a fairy tale here, but their fairy tale simply falls apart altogether, when it meets up with the very real " factual " actions of the DCI belated emails themselves. Sideways
Oh I know. I mean I've inly proven Brasso wrong with facts a zillion times, why expect change? 3 phone calls got me everything I've posted. DCI will respond. Lawyers move at their speed, especially on weekends and close to the holidays. If I were DCI, I'd want to be right before commenting. Trust me, they didn't want to pull the stuff. They didn't have a lot of options until they got good legal advice. Maybe it goes back up, maybe it doesn't. Maybe DCI helps change licensing laws. Interesting fact: when you pop a bluray or DVD in, that Fbi trailer about copyright that plays? That came about because of the Mitchell Brothers going after people who bootlegged "Behind The Green Door". If you don't know that film.... It's porn from the eay 70's That wasn't Cadets 2005 show??
