tesmusic
Considering Carolina Crown won a championship with this piece in their rep, I'd agree that it could work. Which, as much as I love the piece, would be why I wouldn't program it. I think it would fall into that list of selections performed great by corps in the past, and that many will not allow it to be outdone in their minds, even if it is actually a stronger show. DrumManTx
Would love to hear someones brass do this. Those opening strains...silence and all. Some moments of incredible power, incredibly simplicity, incredible technicality, etc. Would be pretty stunning actually...

corpsband
Bet you could guess who I could hear playing it... i often find silence far more intriguing than pages full of black ink. (not to mention the insane ensemble demands it can create)
Lance
so much beethoven sounds modern. actually, i think timeless is a better word for it. this sounds like it could've been written anytime between 1800 and 2016. you can feel your heart beat with it. And everybody knows duh-duh-duh-duh from Beethoven 5 mvmt 1, but most people don't know how AMAZING the final movement is. Listen to the brass in this, especially those french horns at about 0:38 Edited December 1, 2016 by Lance

Listen to the brass in this, especially those french horns at about 0:38 I'd say Timeless is the perfect word for Beethoven. Another one I'd love to hear on the field:
MikeD
Another one I'd love to hear on the field: Crown did Die Moldau in their great 2004 show. It was excellent...one of my favorite shows of the decade.

DrumManTx
This was actually brought up in a conversation I was having with some people after Grand Nationals. Would be great. Will use this as another shameless plug for video game music.
