Whitewater Rapids! The Whitewater Classic 2015

Recommended Posts

Cavaliers are still filthy dirty, but on almost all levels this is a really well developed and fun show to watch. Drill, guard, and overall visual are lovely. Brass is playing some meat, and wonderful themes that the audience can grab onto. Percussion is really good. When this cleans this will be a fabulous show come Finals.

The problem is that I've seen the show three times now (twice in person), and it doesn't seem to be getting all that much cleaner visually. But the music--wow, as always.

Trombones are too blatty, and the singer isn't blatty enough. Odd...

I disagree. That is how a trombonist would articulate a funk passage of that type. Since the trombone is a cylindrical bore instrument it will naturally get a harder edge to the sound when punched like that. But that's what the music is calling for. You don't want the bones to play that all pretty and dark. Doesn't work.
