jjeffeory
I gotta comment on the pit uniforms. "I" like them.
Brian Tuma
So looking at them since 2009......is it me or are they not modernizing at all? I'm not saying they need to go full on deep meaning, electronic, new brass instrument chock filled shows, but it just seems like their show style is still very mid 2000s in approach in the way the arrange things, themes, ect. Maybe that's just me. Not trying to talk crap, hate, or be super negative. Honest question. 2010 was an exception, otherwise I completely agree.
DrumManTx
2010 was an exception, otherwise I completely agree. Agreed. That's the exception. Think that show with a good Thompson visual package and a 2012 quality guard could have been dangerous.

Personally I feel like the mid 2000's were the golden age for Phantom so I don't really mind the older style programming. They haven't really shown that they're capable of doing modern properly (very few corps to me have demonstrated this, I think BD, Crown, Bloo, BK, and SCV are the only ones who do it well). Honestly I'll be really sad if they get rid of their 10 minute long ballad type of shows so I'm gonna enjoy it for as long as it lasts
noahsigs
2010 was an exception, otherwise I completely agree. 2010 was a masterpiece. Too bad it wasn't as clean as it could've been. That percussion though
phd-student-TTU
Just listened. GE Music will suffer. It's not a top 12 music book. Percussion is featured a bit much in the middle for a line that isn't any better than the ones they've had the last several years. It's going to be a rough year for the new, young, and inexperienced staff.

I felt like 2015 was a naive attempt to be modern (e.g., the Sinatra quotes, jazzy piano in the Clair de Lune). Like a dad telling dad jokes to impress his kid's friends. It was modern for the Regiment, just not modern for the activity. I think some modern flair could still be added to this show. It's still early.
kdaddy
I would also like to see how the theme will be implemented. As much as I may not have cared for the Paris show, it was very obvious that it was Paris. I don't hear anything screaming voice of promise (and no that doesn't mean put in a voice over saying just that) I'd prefer a largely themeless show. kdaddy
I'll PM you my opinion later; I've only heard it 3 times so far. Tell us all! I'd like to hear.
kdaddy
Also, props to DCI Momma, without whom this discourse wouldn't be possible!
