snare_guy_83
3rd in drums tonight with the hardest book on the planet. BD averaged 3rd in Content in both Ensemble and Field. I think they might have had a harder book than the scores would indicate but the tuning of the battery might have set them back as it wasnt as clear as years past. The Quad features are a prime example, as the tuning wasn't nearly as clear as Bluecoats or Vanguard Quads were.

I wanted to suggest putting t-shirts inside the drums or something to soften the sound but that is not my place. (in the early days that was done on metal shells to absorb the ring)
flammaster
Also they were being judged very harshly which is understandable. They had to work twice as hard to get half the credit. Bottom line is who brings it more on finals day? You don't win the stupor bowl by averaging scores. YOU BRING IT!
Jurassic Lancer
They came out with a monster this year. You are talking about Caliban, of course.
Tobias
Congrats BD. Staying in the mix yet again. Just amazing.
chris7997
I'm not a BD fan, but I LOVED you guys this year...perhaps my favorite show.
Liahona
I had no idea and to my surprise the trombones BD were using were Bach Stradivarius 42BO Trombones...that is way cool! I've owned a bunch of different trumpets and tried all kinds of models over the years...but I've always loved the beautiful sound that I could produce with ease from my model 37 Bach Stradivarius silver trumpet..,
jwillis35
Also they were being judged very harshly which is understandable. They had to work twice as hard to get half the credit. Bottom line is who brings it more on finals day? You don't win the stupor bowl by averaging scores. YOU BRING IT! DCI judges do not judge harshly, whatever that means. The Blue Devils were judged on the same sheets and in the same manner as Bloo, Crown, SCV, etc. Did they really have to work twice as hard to get "half" the credit? No. These are silly statements and have no truth to them. Comments like this belong in fantasy land. I doubt the judges were saying "you better work harder than everyone else out there or we're going to dump you, because we feel like being unfair to you." What kind of logic is that anyway. DCI judges have awarded them 17 titles. Sounds like they've been plenty fair with BD. The Blue Devils were fabulous once again and took home the silver medal. No complaining necessary, unless you feel you have to win every year. And scores were not averaged for final placement. The Blue Devils final placement was the result of their scores and caption placements on Finals night. Oh, and I think they brought it. They performed amazingly well. That's why they took 2nd. 2nd place is a good thing, not a bad one.
cowtown
they had a great drum line but I think they watered their book from when I saw them earlier in the year, hard to tell in the Oil Can but it looked like some splits were removed
gentle123
I think I know why they lost guys. Their drumline showed too much PokemonGO bias. Their drums were team valor and mystic colored for most of the show, but the judges were team instinct!
