Crazy how well the Vanguard presented Young Person's Guide in 1974 with valve rotor horns. It still holds up as the gold standard.

Agreed.

Better balance for phantom live. Promise you

Watching cadets set up, speaker almost right under dci mic stands. Probably will sound out of balance as well lol

So. Still do not like the drill design at all, pacing of the show still feels really weird to me,

Agree. They need to do some rewrites with the visual. Music is mostly fine. Love their brass and guard, and percussion are very good. The show is a celebration of 60 years in existence. No theme. Just needs to be more jubilant with music and color at the end.

PR; a magnificent under-utilization of talent. :unhappy:

If you're going by visual design, I may agree with you. But that hornline is holding back right now. Their brass staff doesn't like to let the hornline loose until later into the season every year. They really play the crap out of the show every year by finals and they always sound like Phantom. I'm really excited to hear their final form on Kings

At least we'll hear the violin. (And she plays it magnificently.)

Yeah I don't really think there's much of a theme this year other than a celebration of Phantom's history and looking forward to the future
