I just decided to go, I need one ticket if anyone has an extra.

I prefer the expensive seats so please let me know if you have one.  I could buy one at the stadium but I'd rather help someone out by buying their extra ticket if someone can't go at the last minute.  I should be there around 6p or so.

Sorry I missed this post. While I didn't have an extra ticket (bought mine at the stadium), I would have said hello!

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Paul Brown Tiger Stadium in Massillon, Ohio, site of the 2017 Innovations in Brass - Massillon competition!

Hi again everybody. My name is Kevin Gamin, Managing News Editor of Drum Corps Planet, and I welcome you to what's going to be an exciting night of drum corps!

We'll be getting started shortly so get comfortable, grab your show snacks and drinks, and get ready for some drum corps excellence!

Whereas, despite our having attended the same show a dozen times or more, I never see Kevin at the stadium, which didn't change tonight.

And, of course, Autumn Leaves, which the corps performed to a ginormous standing ovation when they broke into Finals for the first time in 1987.

Was that the year the snare line just kept getting bigger and bigger, or was that 1988?

First on the field in World Class competition is the Troopers from Casper, Wyoming. Their 2017 program is entitled "Duels and Duets". No rep listed on Corpsreps.

Massillon program book says:

"Dream of Tybalt", from Romeo and Juliet (Sergei Prokofiev)

"Black Heart Tango" (Robert W. Smith)

"Nessum Dorma", from Turandot (Giacomo Puccini)

"Foil" (Robert W. Smith)

Really, why is there not more Prokofiev on the field?!?!?

Yeah! How about some Love for Three Oranges?

It will be VERY interesting to see how the judges score the Troopers on that first read.

Apparently "very interesting" turned out to mean "too low".

I believe they used 20 snares in '89.

Corrected in later post - it was 1988

I would loved to have met you!

Fantastic show, ie, ALL the corps, and great weather.  I just got back to West Virginia, 2 hour drive.  I'm still pumped from the adrenaline rush from the horn lines, and the Bluecoats encore is a complete show by itself.
