Good catch. He gave Phantom and Mandarins the same score, with Blue Stars 0.3 behind that and Academy 0.3 behind THAT. He had Bloo, Cavies, and Crown ahead of BD and SCV.

Speculation of West Coast inflation usually ends when the top corps begin meeting. I did expect both BD and SCV to have higher scores, so I think we could see some movement with BD, SCV, Crown, and Bloo. Blue Knights scored better than many probably expected. It does look as if predictions regarding Mandarins are accurate and Academy could make noise. 

Tonight Madison, Cadets, and Crossmen will be competing somewhere as will Colts, so we’ll have scores for all of last year’s top 15. Troopers will be competing as will Genesis, and it will be interesting to see how they fare. Tonight could be a late night and tomorrow’s chatter will be interesting.

Ok. The west coast inflation thingie is so old. This was based on when we had circuit judges like DCM and DC West and DC East. Most is not all of those shows were local touring shows until mid or late July when a national tour was under way then it all was judge under DCI. Not anymore. It’s now ALL DCI so enough of this old school west coast inflation. And the west coast inflation has inflated into 24 DCI rings.

A. Lo also judged brass at both shows. His order at the top is tight: SCV 14.5 - Bloo 14.4 - BD 14.3 - Crown 14.2. A .4 gap below that.

Yes, different show, different day. But the criteria stay the same. It’s fairly reasonable to say that scores that are grouped together are competitive with each other though not necessarily in the order of actual scores. A bit like Nights 1 and 2 of Allentown.
