Phantom56
Anyway, it wouldn't have affected the answer if Bluecoats were included. 1973 it was--49 years ago. Amazing comeback from a corps, who very few thought would ever be back in the top group of World Class Corps. My bigger point was that they still aren't leading the midwest, though 2022 may not have prompted your question in the first place.

They get the Lifetime Perserverance Award, that's for sure.

The only reason I remember that name is because we had a DM who'd try to emulate him. Remember the charge down the 50 in Rampart Street Parade? We lost to Blue Stars at every show except when it REALLY counted! Happy to see one of the O.G. corps still around today (BAC too) and doing very well. I'm rooting for them. 1

Billy Happel was a very good drum major. 1

Yes, since Ohio is a midwest state the Bluecoats are leading the midwest corps.
Bneat
Agreed - Blue Stars get the Perseverance Award - now, it's time to revive the Glassmen and Velvet Knights (talk about two different programmatic approaches!).

I still, and will always, consider them a midwestern corps. poor Ohio....no one wants them LOL.

This recalls conversations about Pennsylvania being north east but not New England and Pittsburgh being a 'midwest' city but in an 'eastern' state.
