Questions about DCI All Age and Saturday Programming

This is mostly wrong.  Guardians did SoundSport in 2013, then went open-class the following year.  Columbians went straight into open-class in 2013 and stayed there.  Battalion ran clinics for two years to build interest, then went straight into open-class in 2016.  Arsenal did not "come from SoundSport"... they still are SoundSport, and always have been.

When SoundSport started, it looked like it would be a DCI drum corps incubator.  Watchmen also used it as a stepping stone to open-class same time as Guardians, and one year later Southwind used a 2014 all-age SoundSport group as a catalyst to get going again.  But it stopped there.  The only competing corps SoundSport has spawned since then have been for DCA (Rogues Hollow Regiment and Columbus Saints).

well based on how DCA scoring has gone, it'll be the world class champion.

and DCA spawned soundsport Minnesota Brass and Chops. so whatever it helps to grow is a benefit

doh!  so you're saying watchmen, southwind, guardians, RHR, and CS have used this program to foster a program into a drum corps?    that's not bad.

well.  8.5 to 11 min per performance groups at 17 min a group. with a 30 min intermission.  Even if they start at 11 they'll be done by 3 with reserve time. 

Anytime you get a second or third show... you take it.

It was promising back in 2013-4-5 when open-class was actually open.

Sounds like when DCA Prelims and Finals were the same day. Except usually not done by 3. (Yeah I know bigger stadium 😆)

As I’ve been reading some of the comments and giving them some thought, I would wonder if DCI All Age could be split over two days. Semi’s on Friday does not begin until 1 PM. Why not have the All Age prelims on Friday morning? SoundSport and DrumLine Battle would still have Saturday morning. All Age finals would be Saturday afternoon.  It would be a tight schedule, but it wouldn’t split the audience.
