scout9193
Sop soloists always seem to get the most "press"..but I was curious as to who you thought was amazing on their own respective horn beyond sop/trumpet. A few that came to mind: 84 mello soloist from Cadets-- I think her name was Barbara?? 85 Mello soloist from VK during the 3rd song ( I dont' know the name of the piece ) 88 Wave soloist during "My Fave Things" 83 Blue Devils Baritone Soloist from "Everybody Loves The Blues" ( I think that's the name of the chart ) 79/80 Guardsmen Baritone and Mello soloists from "Tiger of San Pedro" 79 Scouts Baritone soloist from "God Bless the Child" interested in others I should take a listen to.... dugada
83 Blue Devils Baritone Soloist from "Everybody Loves The Blues" ( I think that's the name of the chart ) This would be Eric Shadine (spell wrong I'm sure). Awsome baritone player and a great guy. Being partial to the sop myself this guy has alway's been high on my list. Too bad he wasn't a soprano :P
Jd83
He did play some great solos that year. He hit those high notes easily and lip-trilled a couple of them. Great soloist!!

Buddy also was the flugel soloist in 83 Suncoast (he had solos in 84, 85, and 86 as well). Edited November 5, 2003 by Kamarag
scv74
Can't forget Bonnie Ott. Mello with the Blue Devils in the early/mid 70's. Gail Royer always said he'd add women to the horn line if she'd come to Santa Clara.
