scouttimp
Kevin Creasy of Glassmen 01 and 02 fame. I was just talking about him today. I have NEVER seen a better soloist in my 20+ years watching drum corps. His semifinals performance in Buffalo will always inspire me- the stadium went dead quiet. When he was done, he had a look on his face that was the opposite of macho- it was like he just told me his life story. Magical!
leadsop97
In DCA, former Hurricaines major Jaime Cutrone and, of course, the entire Renegades corps are both showpeople and ensemble performers. Yeah, I hear ya on that. I marched when she was DM, and it was nice. She got so into it.
PR_ducky
After picking my own brain for examples of showmanship, it seems that most were ones that stood out because I witnessed them live and was actually able to feel the "showmanship" in person. A few that came to mind from "back in the day"...-The baritone soloist at the beginning of Phantom Regiment's closer in 87. He projected such reverence and strength - a practically perfect fit for that moment. The Bari Soloist was James Hosmer, same guy who was the soloist in Going Home in 89. Great bari player. I believe he was with FutureCorps for a while after aging out. anyone know where he is now?
PR_ducky
What about Dan Feeney and that wild salute of his? Loved it when he would fling his hat LOL
tommytimp
Dan was great. I've acted professionally with his brother Kevin, who was DM for the Scouts in the early-mid 90s. Edited January 12, 2006 by tommytimp
Musical_Spinner
John Owens (thinks that was what his name was) the "american in paris" from PR 2005

Phantom&Phitch
there is no "I" in drum corps psh... maybe not in Drum&Bugle Corps, but there sure is an I in Drum Corps International!
Jared_mello
there is no "I" in drum corps Yeah, but umm.....there's one in "soloist...." I'd say that Nicole Beane had had some admirable showmanship and charisma and whatnot in Boston's show this past year, on her vibe solo and using the bow on the marimba in the ballad; I couldn't really hear it, but she sold it anyway. Hahaha, she didn't have a solo in Magic '04, but I'd occasionally watch her from the field anyway. I think I'll upstairs in my dorm and tell her that I just posted that......or actually, I probably won't. :)
gmencontra
Hmmm.... a couple from my days: James Gulke BD drum major Rodrick Saunders PR drum major Stars battery in 93 Madison's contra line from the the early 90's. They looked like they could eat people. Oh yeah..... and the Gmen low brass in 95 was pretty showy in a "need lithium" kind of way.
