  1. If you live in central IN, then Blue Stars would be the closest corps that meets your requirements. They definitely have girls and they do not use tilted snares. All of their camps are at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis. http://www.bluestars.org/membership/
  2. From what a little birdie told me, that already happened. Same for BAC.
  3. BINGO!!!!! This is exactly what the WSODC is looking to do. Good write up.
  4. Well, now I know exactly where I will NOT be spending my money this week in Indy. Since they have their "bonus paydays" all figured out for next year, those seven corps no longer need my measly $$$. I guess I'll buy a Madison shirt, a Boston hat, a Troopers bumper sticker, and go to the Blue Stars party at the Omni .
  5. Where are Incognito, Platinum and Spirit of Newark/NJ?????
  6. Empire Statesmen 89.350 Hurricanes 88.50 MN Brass Inc. 87.838 Caballeros 87.075 Bushwackers 82.80 Alliance 80.975 Kilties 80.525 CorpsVets 80.40 Fusion Core 78.288 Govenaires 76.70 Sun Devils 72.850 White Sabers 69.613 Shenadoah Sound 60.163 Excelsior 57.175 Not competing: Bucs, Renegades, Kidsgrove, Grenadiers, Carolina Gold, SoCal Dream, Vigilantes, High Country Brass, Cincinnati Tradition Interesting, even though it is from different shows.
  7. I would rather watch paint dry. It's more exciting.
  8. I actually think missing Murf is an advantage for Blue Stars going into ATL. They get a full day opf rehearsal and a full night of sleep on the floor tonight, while BAC has to cut today short due to their early step off in Murf, and they have to spend five or six hours sleeping on buses tonight. Same goes for BS advantage over SCV and PR tonight.
  9. Blue Stars (the REAL #8) is rehearsing today and tomorrow at: East Coweta High School 400 McCollum Sharpsburg Road Sharpsburg, GA 30277 according to their website.
  10. In 1977, another corps director had proof of an overage member and approached the director of BL with it at the UOEC Championships in Bridgeport. When he saw the proof, the director of BL decided not to attend the GSC Championship the next day in order to avoid any further investigation/penalties.
  11. At this late date, only three corps have housing sites???? That really sucks. Sounds like it may be another 2007 San Diego show, where corps had to scramble to find their own housing and at least two wound up sleeping in their buses.
  12. I watched the show in Kalamazoo last night and felt, after Blue Stars, that everyone else seemed to be moving in slow motion. PR's and Boston's shows seem so easy this year. There are long periods of time where they do not move at all. There are other times where they take a box, move it forward, make it into another box, move it back. I still cannot understand how they are getting those big GE Vis numbers when they don't do anything, and everything is at 120 bpm or slower!! What happened to the days of lightning fast drill and sixteenth and thirty-second note pssages in the music? Seems BS (particularly their mello line) are the only ones doing that this year. Did everyone else decide that SCV's success of last year with a simplistic, safe show is the way to go?
  13. Radar shows the first line of storms already moved on to the east. The second line is still back west of Chicago. Hope it takes its sweet time in getting across the lake.
  14. You need to check the audio/video output port on your PowerMac, and the different A/V inputs on your pasma, and then run to Radio Shack and get the right cord.
  15. I'll share mine. Been active in corps for 50 years. Loved it in the 60's, still love it today. Loved movies in the 60's, still love them today. Think of the hits of the 60's in movies (things like Mary Poppins, etc.), and then of today's hits (Avatar). About as different as you can get, but most are what you call "formulaic". So was drum corps in the 60's (i.e, every corps did an OTL, color pres, into concert, concert, out of concert, production number, exit), so it is now. If you think everyone out there this year is the same, maybe it's time to just stop going. You obviously did not truly watch these shows with an open mind, so you can no longer truly enjoy the performances. I know people in their 60's who go to Walt Disney World and have a miserable time, because all they see are the crowds, the lines, the candy wrapper on the ground, etc. I go to WDW and have a blast because I go with the open mind of a kid and enjoy everything it has to offer, even if it is the 25th trip. Vanilla and chocolate. It's a great world, if you let it be so.
  16. No offense, but I guess they'll have to figure out how the rest of the non-CA corps have been doing it for a very long time. There are virtually no corps left outside of CA that even run bingo games anymore due to the very stringent restrictions the other states have placed on those non-profits for years. The BD group will just have to get creative and figure out new revenue streams.
  17. I think it still helps get the corps pumped up, even though most have members from all over. Even though most live 1,000+ miles away from the corps' "hometown", they still get up for the "locals".
  18. Because the show is in OH, not too far from Canton.
  19. Currently, there are only four WC corps that have "feeder" programs: BD(2), SCV, Blue Stars, and Colts. Since Blue Star Cadets do not compete (at least not right now), that only makes three corps out of 23 with a competitive feeder corps program. It would seem that the days of CCI (Cadet Corps International), DCM, DCW, etc. are long gone. Sad but true. I would personally love to see all of the corps bring back their feeders (remember how good Phantom Legion, Madison Junior Scouts, Cavie Cadets, etc. were?), but in today's world where no one wants to volunteer anymore, kids only want to march in the WC top 12, and "the expert" fans bash anyone performing on a level below the WC top 7, it is just not going to happen. The world has become too high and mighty for cadet corps.
  20. Based on this: http://www.drumcorpsplanet.com/forums/inde...howtopic=137564 Colts have a long way to go. Good luck to them, and everybody else fighting to get in the top 12 this year.
  21. Any predictions? I'm pretty sure that Blue Stars will break 80, considering that they'll win the show, they're on last, and the full judge panel is back (color guard and brass scores should be pretty high). I think Madison will nip Glassmen by a few tenths at most. Teal should be 2-3 points over Pioneer, but still 5 points behind Glassmen. Open class will be CC, Legends, RC IMHO.
  22. July 10th will tell much. First big regional shows, full judging panels. DENVER: Colts Glassmen Troopers KALAMAZOO: Spirit Crossmen Madison
  23. 1. Blue Stars - That last three - four minutes is just awesome. 2. Boston - More and more powerful every year. They just make things seem so on edge in their shows (in a very good way) 3. Madison - If they can add a little more excitement to Rhapsody, this show will keep people standing the whole 11.5 minutes :) Honorable mention: Bluecoats - Definitely a huge surprise to me.
