  1. This board is going to completely ruin the corps if this goes on much longer. If they have any dignity they should remove themselves. Completely ridiculous...
  2. Here's a novel idea: Let 22-23 year olds march, as long as it's their one and only season in DCI.
  3. I can see the potential in the show and good things are happening in the music (THAT BRASS) and drill. I'm just not sold on it because of the vagueness of the theme, the differences in performance between the guard and everybody else, and the lack of any visual "sparks". Of course the season is still young, and with the right additions and elevated performance levels this corps could really turn some heads. This isn't a Finalist show, but it is a step in the right direction.
  4. Interestingly there is a town called Madison in Indiana. It's location though isn't exactly fantastic.
  5. Can't see BDB cracking the Top 17 with that score. At the very highest I'd say they finish 18th behind PC, Academy, OC, and Spirit.
  6. "Getting back to their Southern roots" is a big reason why this season has been such a disappointment for them. It's like they took a typical incredible Spirit show in the 80s and copy-pasted it for 2014, adding in a tree and electronics. IMO they need to move on from the 80s, and fall back to the innovation they've done the past few years to build a new winning tradition.
  7. Colts got hammered in Music tonight. 17th in Brass and Percussion and 18th in Analysis.
  8. The Top 12 all broke 80...we just might have the lineup for Finals night.
  9. If anything is to happen with this show it has to be within these next few days. Between now and San Antonio they only have one show, and even with traveling they should have ample rehearsal time. Solidify the changes you've made so far, and add in anything that might help without being too difficult. And definitely keep the kids motivated. I think they need to pass Colts and be within a point or less of Troopers/Xmen in SA if they are to have any shot at Saturday night. Otherwise it just won't happen this season.
  10. I like band. Edit: And waffles. Mmmmm...may I have some band with my waffles
  11. World Class 1 Boston Crusaders 79.350 2 Colts 75.500 3 Spirit of Atlanta 74.000 4 Jersey Surf 66.600 5 Pioneer 62.650 Open Class 1 Music City 62.400 2 Louisiana Stars 60.350
  12. Don't know about exact scores, but I'm thinking Colts and Spirit will be separated by less than a point. Being in Iowa, and fairly close to home, may have slightly benefited the Colts.
  13. That's what really shocked me tonight. SOA's show isn't that strong though, and they've struggled with scores so far. The Magnolia tree isn't helping that much. Spirit needs a lot more work and fast if they're to have any chance at a Finals slot
  14. My issue is that they seem to be taking a step backwards this summer. It's hard to disagree that this show is lacking when compared to the past three years (2011 was an instant classic, and 2012 & 2013 were excellent even if they were variations of 2011). Of course change was expected, what with the new staff and leadership plus the youth infusion into the corps, but not to the point where it seems like regression. This show as it stands would've been fantastic in the 80s, but not in the present. I wouldn't write them off just yet, but they need to start adding in stuff well before San Antonio. If they hold out too long, the gap between them and the 12th place corps might be too large to overcome.
  15. Hopkins really is the Steinbrenner of the Drum Corps world. But I applaud him, because where else would all the hate go if he wasn't around? :)
  16. It's all a game of surges. The right changes and excellent cleaning could vault them into 10th or 9th place. However Blue Stars are right on their heels, and Troop and Xmen aren't that far behind. Spirit's members and staff need to stay motivated and hungry, because it's very possible that Spirit could (unfortunately) miss Finals.
  17. Troop, Xmen, and Spirit in a 2.5 point segment? Add Blue Stars into the mix and things are really heating up for those last 2 Finals spots.
  18. Gee whillikers really!? Personally I'm not a fan of BOA-style bands and shows. I'll agree though that Broken Arrow is pretty good.
  19. Spirit of Atlanta should be the most concerned about keeping their finalist spot. Personally I felt that Stars outperformed them last night, and that the scores will reflect this trend in the coming days. Don't get me wrong. I love Spirit and how they've brought back and stuck to their traditions of loud hornlines and fun, jazzy shows the past few years. I'm concerned that maybe they're trying to do too much with this show, and that the judges will fault them for clinging too much to their past two years. Plus scoring higher than Cavies, BAC, Stars, and BK earlier this season may have invited complacency within them, something they cannot afford to keep.
  20. Interested in those if only to see how PC may fit in to the Top 14 or 15. Add them into the mix and we might be in for an interesting scramble for the last 2 Finals spots. Edit: PC-74.8 & Mandarins-73.6. Would take these with a grain of salt, because that would mean that BOTH are beating Troop & Xmen.
  21. Are sports bookies doing drum corps shows now or what?
  22. It's still early in the season and tricky to compare scores from different shows, but PC's recent scores are right there with some finalist corps (their recent 70.3 is only .1 off Boston and .5 off SOA). Can they keep the momentum all the way to Finals night? Personally I'd love to see them in the mix. They'd be a nice surprise from all the usual suspects
  23. Absolutely loved this performance. Can't wait for the day corps really start fitting video game music in shows (or go all out ala Blue Stars 2005).
