  1. I understand the thought process. I respect your opinion. And your heart is in the right place. But not allowing fans to sit in a stadium during rehearsal is doing NOTHING to keep the young people healthy.
  2. Every corps should do what they feel is best. I'm not sure how it's DCI's fault (or Dan Acheson's fault) that Phantom had an outbreak after Detroit? Also, there's a big difference between corps kids mingling in the crowd, and fans sitting in a stadium during rehearsal. There is ZERO increased chance of a corps kid getting COVID from fans sitting in a stadium, unless there is mingling going on. I'm concerned about some of these "mitigation efforts". I applaud any corps for wanting to keep everyone safe. I just question whether the things that are being implemented are doing more harm than good. The first time I ever saw a drum corps live, was at a rehearsal. It's an experience I will never, ever forget, because it was my FIRST live exposure. Banning fans from rehearsals (especially if those fans are only sitting in the stands) seems like an elitist and short-sighted reaction to me.
  3. This is a great show! It seems to be a natural progression from 2019 and 2021. And I think it has LOTS of room to go before it peaks. Definitely a contender.
  4. After being in the theater tonight, I really believe this is Boston’s best show ever. Really a big step up, in my mind. Can’t wait to see how it continues to grow!
  5. If anyone still wonders why DCI is where it is today, all they have to do is read some of the garbage comments by so-called "fans of the activity" in this thread.
  6. I'm kinda confused on the point that Cadets are a "spent force", considering staff and members are not frozen in time. They have already had quite a few new people coming in, eager to prove themselves, so there's plenty of opportunity to innovate and surge forward. Also, the idea that it's bad to be in the "bottom half of finals" is a very outdated idea, considering the quality of those corps now. As an example, look at Cadets percussion, and try to tell me they are "bottom 6".
  7. Been right about some things. But wrong about even more things. Reading stuff from this poster previously, there was absolutely no way the Cadets were going to be be able to field a corps after 2018. Hah, WRONG!!
  8. I have been reading comments here and feeling skeptical about FLO for years. But with no corps in 2020, and limited tour this year, I did sign up. Ive been watching stuff on there besides DCI, so it’s worth it to me. The sad thing is, of all the sports I’ve watched on FLO, DCI seems to be the worst broadcast quality. It’s pretty unfortunate when almost ANY amateur cell phone video from the stands has better sound quality than the FLO broadcast. Come on gang - please do better! Tonight’s sound was the worst I’ve experienced all season. Gotta go back to basics, I think.
  9. Bluecoats are, BY FAR, the best corps at doing encores these days! That was great!!
  10. I just got home from Allentown. Let me just say, add tonight to the list of legendary DCI East nights for the Cadets! Very, very emotional. Thank you!!!
  11. I love the show this year, and it’s exactly what is needed. But I agree that Cadets need to be aggressive with no nostalgia next year. Now, the big question is, should they keep THE UNIFORM? To me, they should keep it. It’s part of their identity. Doing an innovative and aggressive show with THAT uniform is part of what makes it so iconic. The old argument that they cannot move with that uniform has clearly been debunked, as far as I’m concerned. Modern fabrics allow much wider range of movement than the old wool.
  12. Camera work tonight is more to my liking. Some good closeups on Cadets percussion. Hope this continues!
  13. Loving this show, more and more, every time I see it! Allentown is gonna be great!
  14. This feels like finals night to me, after 2 years with nothing. Loving it!!!!!!!!
  15. It was at the Regal theater on Caughey Drive over by Susquehanna Marketplace. The last couple times, I attended at the AMC theater near the Capital City Mall (where Hill's used to be). But it wasn't there this time.
  16. The surround sound worked in Harrisburg, but it didn't matter. It was just the processed volume that sucked. Again, it wasn't as simple as the volume just being turned down too low. It was volume that was being electronically limited during loud portions. There was really no dynamic range whatsoever.
  17. The theater in Harrisburg, PA had about 30 people in it. VERY quiet. There was some light clapping after Crown, and then silence the rest of the evening. Some of the silence was due to the INCREDIBLY low volume. Low enough, that if you whispered, your whisper would be louder than the big hit in the SCV ballad. People were quiet, because they were afraid they would miss hearing something. There was clearly some sort of weird automatic volume limiter system turned on. When the corps were playing softly, the volume in the theater was actually LOUDER than when the corps were playing loud. The volume went down so low at the end of each performance, that you couldn't even hear Rondinaro speaking. It was so quiet, you could've heard a pin drop in the theater. Terrible. I would go so far as to say it was the worst sound I've ever experienced in a theater, for anything. It was still enjoyable to go. The sound sucked. But the screen was great. The Bluecoats and Boston content was worth it, all by itself.
  18. I'm going, too. I bought two tickets earlier this week. At the time, the theater I'm going to had only sold about 10 tickets so far. As I said before, I prefer when the theater is packed full of enthusiastic and knowledgeable drum corps fans. But, whatever. I share your sentiments. For me, it's a way to show support for DCI, and hopefully prove to the theater that it's worth it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the additional "live" content will be somewhat interesting. I have ALL the finals performances on DVD or blu-ray back through 1972, and I have a good home theater setup to experience it all. But it's still cool to show up at the theater wearing a corps shirt, sitting back, and watching it on a gigantic screen for several hours.
  19. You might want to try going to a modern DCI broadcast in a theater sometime. Just give it a shot! It's kinda hard to proclaim "big screen TV and home theater system are better" if you haven't actually seen drum corps in a theater before, or haven't done it 25 years. Not disagreeing with you or saying your are wrong. Just keep an open mind.
  20. I'll give it some buzz! I freaking LOVE that show! Being from Pennsylvania, that was a great time to be following the Crossmen. And a great time for drum corps in general. 90, 91, and 92 are my favorite years for the Crossmen.
  21. Going to the theater definitely isn't as good as seeing the shows live, that's for sure. But it sure as heck is better than what you find for free on the internet. And mostly it's better than watching at home on blu-ray with a good home theater setup. I'll be the first to admit, my theater experience isn't always as good as it should be. But I easily recommend people to go. When it's good, it's AWESOME. Especially if the sound is cranked up, you can get a good seat, and the theater is packed with enthusiastic and knowledgeable drum corps fans!
  22. Before people start talking about three-peats, I would think it would be important to get two-in-a-row first.
  23. Are Cadets switching to Stanbury Uniforms?
