Celebration in Brass Johnston, IA
mnscoutfan replied to BlueStainGlass's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
They did. After a long absence, I attended the show last night. Growing up with DCI in the early 90's made me very surprised when I saw the Bluecoats' uniforms this year. Whoa! Academy's show was SO fun and Crossmen's "Enigma" was strange, interesting, and beautiful. Didn't get to see the men from Madison this year, so hopefully they swing by DSM next year in Johnston High School's brand new stadium! -
Will be there. Can't wait to see Madison and SCV square off!

The Minneapolis Mash-Up
mnscoutfan replied to MN DCI Fan's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
It looks like there will be a chance for thunderstorms, but if they happen, most likely they won't last _that_ long. Is there a max delay time that DCI has? Plus, I believe the storms won't start until the late afternoon/early evening, so we'll get quite a few corps in before there's weather. p.s. My wife is a meteorologist and I got the full scoop from her. :) -
SOOOO excited for the Minneapolis show! I've been waiting for something like this ever since I started watching corps in '92 and ever since I heard the Gophers were getting a new stadium. I hope Gopher season ticket holders will get first dibs on the best seats. ;)

So, we're going out for dinner for my birthday tonight before the show and probably won't get there until an hour or so in. I wonder if we'll be stuck in the very front row or has anyone seen people arrive late and still get decent seats? I suppose it depends on how busy the location is, but I'm wondering if we should even bother if we're going to be late. Going to the West Des Moines show at Jordan Creek cinemas.

I might have to do some research locally on this. Last year there was only an exhibition performance due to a Thunderstorm that came through right before the show, but it was clear for the entire show, IIRC. We're right in the middle of the country and not far from Bloomington for finals, so I don't see a reason why there isn't a stop here this year. I guess I might have to go back home to the Coon Rapids show, Drum Beauty, or the Mankato show for my DC fix. -

Sooo...no Des Moines/Ankeny show this year? I don't see anything on the calendar posted on DCI.org. -
Clips sound awesome, hope I can see them soon. They're skipping Ankeny this year. :(

Madison Hires Executive Director
mnscoutfan replied to Redmann's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Congrats, Jeff! Since he is one who marched during the Scouts' last "glory years," I think he'll know what it takes to put a superior, fan friendly product on the field. -
That was one of, if not THE highlight of my finals weekend. Those guys went crazy for everything, it was awesome!
-
I'm lucky though...I saw you guys rehearse a few times before the show. :)
-
Madison alumni should have made finals.

Has a Corps ever Bowed?
mnscoutfan replied to Jimisback's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
You are correct. They also had VERY large flags go over them as they bowed. -

Season Pass Complaints
mnscoutfan replied to Long Time Fan's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
This actually effected a lot of people other than drum corps folks. Some friends of mine are at the Pearl Jam shows at the Gorge in Washington and they had to wait 1.5 hrs in line in 105 degree heat to get their fan club tickets. This was just a freak occurrance. Hopefully nothing like this will happen again. :) However, SP should have a backup plan after going through this. -
Premium, row 69. PM me if interested.
-
Agreed. I think that and show design issues also lead to their mini slump in the 90's.

Madison Scouts 2006, some thoughts
mnscoutfan replied to phan77's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
2005 was one of my favorite Scout shows as well. It just needed a better ending. If it could have harnessed more of the intensity that the '95 show had at the end, it would have been THE favorite show.
