RockEuph
After we had gotten off the field this year at the Atlanta Afternoon Show Crossmen were on after us. "On the Field from San Antonio, TX THE GLASSMEN...CROSSMEN!!!!" it was pretty funny also "Constantly Risking Adsurbity" was heard a lot. Top Cat
Here is one that goes back a long way -- later 60's. At the VFW nationals, Tony Schlectta anounced the Troopers as the "Caspers from Trooper, Wyoming"
crazymello
Brandt Crocker at the Georgia dome! the crossmen came on... "Drum Corps International is proud to present... THE GLASSMEN! ... ... ... THE CROSSMEN!"
DrinkinOuttaCups
Spirit, getting ready to go on at a show in Kentucky this past summer: "Ladies and gentleman, please welcome to the field...from Denver, Colorado...the BLUE KNIGHTS!!!" *mild applause, followed by awkward silence* Staff member: "...Go SPIRIT!" *a few seconds later* "Ladies and gentlemen, there's been a correction. Please welcome to the field...SPIRIT, from Jackson....*long pause*...ville, Alabama!!!" We still can't figure out why he paused in the middle of "Jacksonville," but we were definitely joking about it non-stop after the show. sday88
In 1988, I was on staff and touring with Spirit on a swing through Florida. I had met up with some friends of mine...twin sisters, Cindy and Cheryl who were quite famous in our day as the "Florida Wave Twins". OMG, I remember them. They were really cute. I remember when I went to Florida for the All-Star Corps parade after the '88 season, one of them came to watch us rehearse and she actually remembered me and said "Hi". I never did get to know either of them though. My loss. Also in '87 when we were at DCI South, a few of us were sitting in the back stands and they came and sat a few rows behind us. I really wish I had the 'nads to talk to them. Edited September 12, 2008 by sday88
southtxbones
yeah crossmen got announced as glassmen at the Ga show. One weird mess up that happend, at the dublin, Oh show 2008. The crossmen were announced, Greg Orwell(colts director) was announced as the director. And Night and Day(colts show) was announced as the crossmen's show. Also drum majors announced were 1 colts DM and 1 xmen dm(both male names) who was no longer drum major at the time, but opted to march. so when crossmen's DM took her aussie off after her salute everybody was confused, they were expecting a guy, you could hear it from the crowd. ...funny thing is, the colts weren't even at the show.
