Extra Practice time doesn't always show up the day it occurs. Practice is all about training the muscles and sometimes things that you have been working on take a day or two to show up! If Boston keeps it up...based on what I have seen they should keep on climbing this year!

Recent reviews noted dynamics & tone as the significant BAC issues. Seems to be supported by their music ensemble scores they've dropped every show, while everything else is increasing. The top 7 might watch their mirrors when Boston fixes their ensemble dynamics.

Hm. Must be first week of the season. Cavaliers are already doing a good job executing a show that's over-rated, too easy, and/or "not memorable" - just like what folks were saying about them in '01, 02, 03, '06, and '07...

And in every show (except 2007) they had a moment or two of "Oh, wow!" even this early in the season. I haven't seen the opener, but everything else that I've viewed doesn't have that element. Maybe it's because I'm watching it in a small window, maybe it's because it isn't live, maybe it's because I expect this from Cavies now and it's old hat... the show didn't seem to work for a championship.

And maybe this will be another 06 where none of the Big Three have the killer show. We'll know more later.

I agree! They have a young group this year but they seem to be working hard. I am sure they will have the music squared away soon! I think this is the earliest they have come out in a few years as well! I am sure Wayne Dillon, Jay Kennedy, and Frank Williams will get them going in the right direction!

Isn't Frank Williams at Glassmen?

All of that aside, none of that matters (unless your point is that you personally like Bluecoats more than Cavaliers).

No, my point is that I think the Bluecoats have a lot more demanding show musically than Cavies do at this point. And frankly there are some things with Bluecoats' show that I'm not sold on yet either.

As for the rest of what I posted, I stand by every word of it. It doesn't take 40 years of experience to recognize an easy horn book.

I'm sorry but you are so picky about this marching and playing thing it gets on my nerves, and probably others' too. Last year you spend the entire first part of the season breaking down everyone's shows, timing them to see how much each marched and played. Mostly you did it to bash on the Cavaliers, am I right?

But I do apologize, I didn't mean to come off badly, just venting some frustration.

Nope, that was someone else. I joined in on the thread, but it was another poster's concept, not mine. Also, in order to responded to people who accused me of being a cavies basher, I listed my favorite cavalier's shows, in addition to explaining how I almost wound up marching there.

And you know what, all that said, maybe I will post about the cavaliers lack of said marching and playing, if i perceive it to exist. It may come up every year, but compared to most things on dcp, it's a minor issue. If there were one thread of that type for every 10 anti-cadet-narration threads, I think certain people would have a fit....

He is also listed on Boston's staff list. I think he goes back and forth between the two groups.

Funny story ... Frank was listening to Boston's brass sectional when they were first learning their Moondance/August Rhapsody ballad. You could see Frank, being a "jazz guy", really wanting to push up the Moondance tempo by his body language. Then he finally turned around, threw up his hands, and commented, "... What twisted mind came up with this arrangement?" Cracked up everyone around him.

Frank is a funny guy and I remember they brought him in when we needed a kick in the balls in 2000.. He kicked us hard and repeatedly.... The good ole days..

I need a beer...
