Tez
From the proposal, as Jeff posted it:So no, it's not arbitrary, and yes, it is based upon competitive results. Do you really think Blue Stars, BAC, Madison, or any others would vote for a system they could not take part in until the 2013 season... even if next year one of them won DCI? Matt_S
FWIW, I think Blue Stars are more than capable of finishing in the top seven this year.

Yes, but there's an equal chance that they won't based on level of Phantom, SCV. It seems you are just trying to take up for G7 in anyway you can. oldschooldbc
Here's G1, lecturing the non-G7 members: Except when G1 lectures on the ABCs, it stands for "Absolute, Blatant Covetnousness." (Or perhaps instead of the ABCs, he can teach the YBCs - "You'll be closing. Closing down, for good.") I wonder if G1 had coffer served at the meeting this afternoon - after all, "Coffee is for Closers." http://www.flickr.com/photos/roxierider/3593737609/
soccerguy315
I am not sure if you are being sarcastic about facebook here?....Please understand facebook is not a joke...I do not support this action by these groups...BUT Social marketing is something that cannot be ignored and they know that. It is also something I know a lot about, but of course those numbers to me are not all that impressive to say the least. BUT in defense of your comments...I'm also not impressed with their quantifiable justification either. the problem is I, soccerguy315, can friend (or "like") every drum corps and DCI. Then, the Greedy7 can take that information and put out a press release that they have 7 times as many facebook friends as DCI does, even though really, they only have me. edit: and for the record, since facebook started tying what you "like" or become a fan of directly to your profile for their advertising purposes, I do not "like" or become a fan of anything on facebook. Im the same. I wish it was more like twitter where you just 'follow' someone... I often want to see what a corps is up to, so i've followed their pages and twitter accounts, but it doesnt mean i 'like' them or they are the corps i primarily support. And the number of 'fans' can have a lot of different factors. A big chunk of those is active alumni base, current members, and parents. And some corps are much more effective with social media than others.
oldschooldbc
General Motors has 156,000 fans. There was an arguement, in the "Minnesota Directors Meeting" thread, about how GM was (or was not) making money. I don't know if they really are profitable. But based on their Facebook count - they should be running junior drum corps in this country! Some other interesting Facebook facts: Bernie Madoff has 692 fans Lehman Brothers has 231 Fans Enron has 125 fans Three Mile Island has 97 fans Bhopal, India has 240 fans Hurricane Katrina has 301 fans This is perhaps the lamest marketing metric ever. Whoever is in charge of marketing this WSoDC concept must have zero experience or competency. Zero. None.

I'm 3rd generation GM. Globally, they always make a profit. In the US, they haven't in 20 years because they spin off their profitable businesses and then end their contracts to buy product from them, yet still hold controlling interest of those companies and can show it as a loss on their balance sheets. They've eliminated/shipped over 400,000 jobs out of this country and shut down the factories ...... leaving dead properties that can't be built on because the EPA won't make them clean them up nor let anyone else build upon those sites .... another net loss on the balance sheet (taxes, upkeep, maintenance, landscaping, security, insurance .. all that good stuff). Net tax return globally due to US Tax Code ........ always in the red. It was planned and systematic ..... very well executed. Maybe Hop and Gibbs are really ................... running GM? Interesting... The Casino that threatens Capital Regiment's bingo operation is planned to be built on an old GM assembly plant. Good Lord, Casinos must make a TON of money to offer the guarantees they did to get the site and have to pay the EPA piper to clean it up first. Good Lord, Casinos must make a TON of money to offer the guarantees they did to get the site and have to pay the EPA piper to clean it up first. And I'm sure GM (once they found a buyer that would offer to pay for part of the cleanup costs) was content to write their portion of the EPA cleanup in red ink on the balance sheet. Smiling all the way .......... I better shuddup or you guys will start to think I'm a rubicon person.
