spskatbart
I am a big fan of modern (2000+) drum corps, but NOTHING...AND I MEAN NOTHING comes close to Spirit 1980 They did a clinic in West Chester to show the difference between performance and practice volume, featuring the opener. Greatest thing I have ever seen, and will never forget when they opened up, the concrete started flaking.
goalieguy
1975 Madison - How about the inhale right before the first note. Now THAT'S why everyone got so close to that volume...That big inhale partially sucked the fans out of their seats, moving them closer to the corps.. But how would YOU know Roark? You were a tymp player !! You never needed air! runs and hides - cause Roark knows how to find me.. Pat
devsabre
One of my favorites is '79 Santa Clara. The tension building brass opening of Verdi's Requiem with the guard in two straight lines on the 50 that opens into an power wedge while they twirl bed posts with streamers. Goose-bump City! WOW! devsabre
As much as I loved '80 Spirit and I was blessed and cursed to be in Memphis when Jim Ott was taken from us; I love the opening of the '78 Spirit show even more. tommytimp
Wait for it, wait for it... Phantom Regiment 1996, the best slow build ever. I agree. The most purely emotional impact I've ever heard. The tension break into the major is absolutely awesome.
