sax1210
I can't believe this one has only been mentioned once CAVIES 92!!!! Also I like Cadets 91 - Short Ride and Star 90,91, and 93. Phantom 2010 is a work of art.

jwscv87
Wait for it, wait for it... Phantom Regiment 1996, the best slow build ever. I am way, way, way biased but IMHO the best slow build ever is SCV 1987 Russian Christmas Music. I am generally one to stay away from comments about how great we were, or were not (we had our issues), but in terms of the best opening statement I would nominate our first 3.5 minutes in 1987. Absolutely off the charts IMO. In terms of truly just the very beginning of the show a few of my favorites are, 1985 Regiment, 1982 Garfield, 1984 SCV, and 1985 Garfield. OState10
I'd have to go ahead and agree with SCV 2001
2000Cadet
SCV '98, slow build to massive chords in GROHG. I can't believe I forgot about SCV 1998. That is one of my favorite openers.
AmFlag61
For sheer "in your face" opener, Cavaliers 2000 "Niagara Falls"
G-Rott
Freelancers 1985...that is the year they sang...right? Sounds incredible (especially when the brass enters) with the sound pumped up...
scvjesse
I can't believe I forgot about SCV 1998. That is one of my favorite openers. I tend to avoid complimenting my own corps if I can... but yeah dude..... 1998 SCV. The whole opener was amazing. Also, 2001 SCV's opening statement was great, too. Sorry that I marched those years... don't want to take away from how great the opening statements were.
