JeromeyBush
I get how they're a hype . . .hell, I like it when drumlines do the "head bob" during a drum feature . . .for all I know that could #### someone off. . . Still, though, I can understand the idea of duts going into a particularly intense part of a show . . .but not in softer, ballad-type moments: there it seems like less of a hype and more of a crutch. Definitely (for me) was the 1977 UOEC championship album, vol 1, with Bridgemen,Boston,Royal Brigade, and the Saints. The first dc Album I had(and still do,although I have nothing to play it on)

HornsUp
4 out of the top 5 from within one hour of Chicago! 7 of the top 15 from within 2 hours! Try 6. St. Joes was not from Batavia IL. Although being the 7th closest to The Windy, they were from Batavia NY ~600 mi to the East. Don't know any corps busses that can make that in 2 hours! Every corps there had blanks all over the place (UOEC occurred after DCI in those days). It was just brutal. But entertaining in a raw, raucous way. cabalumnidrummer
"1963 Evening With the Corps at Carnegie Hall" This was the first drum corps concert I ever attended and it had all the big names of the day: Hawthorne, Skyliners, Hurricanes, Sunrisers, Carver Gay Blades, Blessed Sacrament, Garfield, etc. I couldn't wait for the records to come out, and when I finally got them, it's a wonder I didn't wear holes right through most of the tracks. I had owned and listened to the 1962 'Evening' records, but this was different. I got to re-live the live show I had witnessed just a few months before. Like Ray Fallon, I bought most of my early records at Sam Goody in Green Acres, Valley Stream. (Coincidentally, that's where I also got to see St. Catherine's Queensmen in 1962 and later the Sunrisers in 1963 rehearse on the parkng lot.) If I was lucky enough to get to a contest, I usually went home with at least one new record from the Fleetwood sales table.

gak27
1975 World OpenBD Regiment Royal Crusaders I remember marching that show -- always loved East Coast crowds!
KemoLondon
Another oldie I wore out was the Cavalier's GREEN MACHINE album that came out in 1970. It had the full field show for 70 (4th of July show) and excerpts from the years 63 to 69. I lost the original when I went into the service but have since replaced it with two more copies. Great stuff!!!
LSU GRAD 82
I play my 1980 Finals dvd once a week consistantly. Just reaffirms my opinion about the current state of affairs, especially musically. Don't even need to watch the drill. I can listen to just the music being played on G Bugles and am satisfied. (Particularly partial to all the old school Spanish-Latin stuff)...........
