And yes, there is the possibility we will loosen the age restrictions to 23 or 24, depending on demand." So, They may have an age limit higher then 22, which would place them outside of the DCI landscape. Just thought someone would have noticed that by now. I've taught in DCI Open Class, and if I was starting a corps I would look long and hard at DCA before committing to the mess that is DCI Open. If the C2 thing has any measure of success (and I don't mean competitive success) DCA would do well to look at putting some things in place to expand in this area, but without crippling the DCA business model, or monkeying with any age rules. DCA could drastically expand by absorbing existing DCI Open corps, especially in the Northeast. I'd love to see a "barnstorming" tour of these corps set up over multiple weekends. What if a marcher that is over their age cap and is rejected on participation because of the marchers " age " when DCA has the " All Age " division set up that presumably this new DCA Corps will be competing in. Can the Cadets2 do this, and not run afoul of Federal Statues, thus jeapordizing the entire YEA organization's tax exempt status ? (Just asking, mind you. I'm sure they've thought this all through though.) DCA and the corps that make it up, are all private organizations, not unlike the Boy Scouts of America, whom the Supreme Court said has the right to choose its members based on its own criteria. Cadets2 can choose to restrict the age to 22, although they said they might relax it to 23/24 which probably means that we might see some of those recent age-outs/locals/ringers/screamers/add-your-adjective-right-here as they see fit to complete their show. I don't see a merge of any kind, to be honest. What I do see is DCA absorbing what's left of DCI Open Class if they continue down the present road they're on. I can see a working relationship, but DCI and DCA will never exist under the same organizational umbrella.
