Why is this happening

Recommended Posts

It works the same way. A 2.5 jump should be taken with a grain of salt until those scores seem to hold. What we saw last night was outside what we had seen in just the day prior. So, if it happened in one day, then there's no reason for people to assume that it can't reverse itself.

Maybe the Scout's higher score at Broken Arrow was the score that was out of whack, looking at spreads..........

I guess we'll see, won't we?

BK BAC BStars and Madison have top 8 talent this year but only 1 of them is going to get the spot!

I for one do not think the Blue Stars will make top eight this year. Can you imagine the general and anti-DCI posts if the same eight repeat for next year? Doesn't help sell TOC to the masses.

Yep. and guess what, it doesn't really matter because the Blue Knights, Blue Stars, Boston Crusaders, and Madison Scouts all have very entertaining shows this year! The fans win this round.

That's odd to me for people to blame the judges (the scores) for being inconsistent, and they never blame the corps.

Conspiracy theory......if that is true and the judges are making sure a new corps is in the top 8 this year, that is just wrong. The best 8 corps on Finals night show be in the top 8 for the year, regardless of who they are and who is on their staff.

Naw, if you wanted to have a good conspiracy theory, youd say scouts would get top 8 because TOC wants the top 8 'brands' in there, of which Scouts are most definitely one of the top 'brands'.

I wish everyone would take a step back and really look at what has happened with the scores this year. For the first time that I have seen, judges are scoring based on individual shows, not based on the seasons results up to this point. Caption scores are obviously indicating that any personal bias towards a certain corps are, at least for the time being, a thing of the past.

So in your opinion do we need to put an asterisk next to the scores of all the previous seasons that you have seen? I would think so if this is indeed the first time the judges are not basing their scores on "previous results" and are finally showing "no bias."

WOW...what an indictment against the judges of the past...

however many years you've been watching.

I think the judges still have a certain tilts (I'm disinclined to say "bias" because I think judging is far more subjective than we like to admit--different styles of playing and marching will impress different judges differently), which you can see if you compare the average spreads that each judge gives each pair of competing corps over the season.
