hughesmr
Methinks the engineers have the setup for sound recording figured out ... finally. Put the main mic array (on the 50) in FRONT of the podium, resulting in a better pickup of the field and getting the acoustic sound off the pit at ~90 deg off axis of the mics. But the biggie ... speaker stacks for the corps Ive seen so far are being placed BEHIND the flanking mic poles on the 35s. As long as there is some directionality to those mics, the amped stuff is being effectively dialed down acoustically by the mic arrangement. Kudos to the sound guys. LyleF7
Question: Was Les Miz set in the same time frame as the 1812? Is that the connection? Les Mis covers the years starting in 1815 and culminating in the 1832 June Rebellion in France.
garfield
Haha! Loved watching that drum judge run for his life! Nice, nice show Boston.
marchingartist
The ending still needs more oomph but the rest of the show is SOLID! Great job BAC!
drumcat
Interesting aside so far. You guys are about evenly split. 3 out of 7 watching the high nitrate bitrate (thanks Lion spellcheck... ), 3 out of 7 watching SD, and 1 in 7 watching the high cam. If you're in the booth, can you convince them to take down the bulletin board a little sooner so we can see the corps come on the field? Please? Maybe get a message over there? Thanks.
jwillis35
Really solid show by Boston. For the most part they do a wonderful job of taking both Les Miz and 1812 Overture. It works because both were written around revolutions, and the show is simply "Revolution." So it works. They do lose some oomph at the end, but the soloists are wonderful and the visual program is excellent. The brass and drums aren't too shabby either. With a bit more substance in the middle and a better ending, this show could be top 6. But 8th is the highest it can go.
