euphman89
I am really excited to see this show at Akron in just over a month. This may be the first show where the visual design possibilities has me more intrigued than the music, and I really like this repertoire. June 16th can't come fast enough.
Noname
Any guesses as to what the tuba soli will be? My first guess, although I could be completely wrong, is this
Jast45
I wonder if this is the order of the prgram--if so I can kind of see the theme--start with a recognizable favorite like a POTO piece that people like/love/ and then move to the edgier, more modern pieces--that's been their vibe lately--"the future is Now" "Brave New World"--so to me it does not look like they are abandoning that look and sound they have been working on these past few years--And maybe if this is the order they will be "UnMasqued" by the end--from traditional to a more modern sensibility? I am excited to see how it will all come together--and wonder if they will keep up the whole dance moves the corps has been including lately as well? bersurkman
Who was the first corps to announce? Jersey Surf is the correct answer, as posted above. They announced during the season last year.
Triple Forte
I certainly hope they don't "chop-n-bop"--funny, that's the first thing I thought when I saw all those pieces listed. I don't think they will, though. Bloo has been one of the better corps lately at presenting longer, more sustained musical ideas. Corps who are doing that have, perhaps not surprisingly, been my recent favorites (Bloo, SCV, Phantom, Crown at the top end--I'm a music-first kind of guy ).
Music first person here as well.... Actually...I don't worry about chop n bop from the Bluecoats....I worry about the overuse of dissonance. Will the 2012 show feature a lot of dissonance.....musically. Guess we'll see....
