What corps rode school buses?

Recommended Posts

My whole time in drum corps throughout the 1970's was spent on school buses. How many of you rode those instead of the coaches?

I know Squires (Watkins Glen) did school buses.

Both Garden State Circuit corps I taught in the mid 70's used (crappy old) school busses, the Imperial Guardsmen and the Wayne Monarchs/King's Regiment (after a merger).

I believe up until 1975 the Scouts always traveled on School buses when they were in Wisconsin.

We (Silver Sabres) took school buses to area shows (within Kansas) but if we traveled out of state or to a larger show we took chartered Trailways buses.

We took school buses everywhere. I actually preferred them, b/c you could sleep in the luggage compartments above, under the seats, in the aisle, etc. The only bad thing was no port-o-pot!

We always rode school buses - repainted in corps colors - although we didn't have the luggage compartment "upgrade"

Figured it appropriate to have this posted adjacent to the GBV post...

My Sr corps had an exhibition show at Hershey, PA day after DCI Finals at Philly. Kilties had at least one school bus that was painted a different color. Remember it as saw them pull out and the back door was open and one guy was sitting on the edge with his feet hanging out.

Never knew Royal Crusadeers had school buses, was in college MB with a 77 member of the corps (Rob Spence - bari).
