By the way, while Crown will win brass, and they have a ton of notes; most of what Crown is asked to do falls into major tonality and articulations built on the major scales. They have a little chromaticism, but not much. BD's tonal palate is vastly better, using a variety of chords, balances (not all just bottom-up), textures, much more dynamic contrast, more chromaticism, and way more range both high and low. Even with all the notes that Crown plays, I'd say BD's book is a harder book.

Better according to what drum corps judging calls for, but not in any objective way, surely? It's not as if good music uses minor chords while bad music uses major chords, or good music uses more chords while bad music uses fewer chords.

Visually--yes. Color Guard--this is the best they've been in a long time. In fact..no way is this a 12 place guard. They are much better than 12 place.

While I agree they were very badly wronged ranking 12th yesterday, and worse wronged by scoring only a 17, they still are comparatively to the rest of the ensemble a weak section, especially once we throw in that Boston and BK have absolute monster color guards this year.

I thought BD was on a different level from everyone else tonight, but congrats to Crown!

Man...pretty sad dude...just grasping at straws now to try and make fun of BD. Pathetic.

What? That sentence made no sense?
