DWilliams Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 corps have already received notice about penalties for the use of drones in warmup or show areas. Really?? Wow, what's the harm. Quote
quietcity Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 It is only a matter of time before a corps sets it's drone army loose on a competitor. Imagine the possibilities: espionage, subterfuge and....sabotage. Quote
DrumManTx Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Really?? Wow, what's the harm. In prepping for a show, and with performances going on on the field, I could see them as VERY distracting. Some do have a pretty obnoxious buzzing too. I agree with that actually. 1 Quote
ChuckH Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 (edited) It is only a matter of time before a corps sets it's drone army loose on a competitor. Imagine the possibilities: espionage, subterfuge and....sabotage. Drones for espionage? Yeah, right. Planting active infiltrators in other corps would still be the more effective way to go.... Not that I'd know anything about that. Edited June 12, 2014 by ChuckH Quote

Reminds me of something our football coach did one time...one of the kids left his drill charts at the field after rehearsal, and the coach picked it up. He gave it to us saying that it is a good thing the opposing band didn't find it, so they would not know our formations for the show. 1 Quote

kdaddy Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Someone tried that on Phantom last year but she wasn't that well disguised. I *knew* it wasn't just a design flaw - it was a Bluecoat who wanted to surge ahead during finals week! Quote
mrjaydub Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 I just had to. And so it arrived this morning. Let's see how long before my... "It crashed/I've lost it/It was shot down" post. HA! Quote
mrjaydub Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 Can't sleep, so I'm putzing around in sketchpad. :) 9 Quote
mingusmonk Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Could future drum corps drone wars be at risk: FAA grounds Amazon’s drone delivery plansThe key to this "Interpretation of the Special Rule for Model Aircraft" is whether or not the droning is for hobby/recreation vs. commercial use. Acceptable example would be "Taking photographs with a model aircraft for personal use." Examples provided on unacceptable use are "A Realtor using a model aircraft to photograph a property that he is trying to sell and using the photos in the property’s real estate listing." or "A person photographing a property or event and selling the photos to someone else." Drone while the going is good, drum corps. The wild west is about to tamed. Quote
