kevingamin
How's the venue, Kevin? I attend BGSU but it's been a few years since I've heard a drum corps play there, since I live closer to Akron. And our marching band sound isn't exactly the same as a drum corps. It's a very nice venue. The stands aren't as steep as Toledo or Akron so the bowl is wider as a result but the acoustics and the field are great to perform on. kevingamin
Also, the announcer at tonight's show has a pulse! That's Glassmen alumni Brad Bell, a very experienced announcer with DCI and WGI. He does this show every year.
kevingamin
I LOVE Alexander Nevsky so hearing this music on the field, especially with how in your face Boston performs it, is great.
kevingamin
This is not a retelling of the Orwell story but a more abstract reference to the mood of the story. The music gives a very dystopian future feel, something which Boston touched on last year with Rise.
kevingamin
The guard is all wearing white animal masks. There are more equipment drops than I'd expect. That may be a combination of the difficulty of the work as well as vision issues due to the masks.
g00fyg00ber
Those masks are mad creepy, but I love the effect they have when paired with how dark Boston is playing.
kevingamin
Huge sound from the corps as they restate the Polyuska Polye theme! It's appropriate the corps uses a lot of modern Russian composers for this show considering the satire on socialism Orwell portrayed in his book. kevingamin
Those masks are mad creepy, but I love the effect they have when paired with how dark Boston is playing. The dark uniforms of both the guard and the corps proper also add to that effect.
kevingamin
Lovely middle horn soloist in the front left corner of the field midway through the show.
