rancidrolla
To me dominating is winning more often than not, making these the eras I'd say: 2007 - Current: Blue Devils (5 Wins and 3 Silver Medals) 2000 - 2006: Cavaliers (5 Wins and 2 Silver Medals) 1994 - 1999: Blue Devils (4 Wins, 3 Bronze Medals) 1983 - 1987: The Cadets (4 Wins, 1 4th Place Finish) This is actually kind of interesting. From the looks of it, the next corps to step up and dominate could be looking at 6-7 wins and a couple silver medals in a row.. That is unless BD continues their current reign. corpsband
Concerning BD, until they stop drawing the talent they have or have a major staff change, they'll be in the mix in some shape or form. GE aside, they are just too good at what they do. Pinning it on the judges "drinking the kool-aid" is ignoring that they are amazingly good, show design or not. It'd take every single corps in the top 6 from last year firing on all cylinders to knock them out of 2nd in my eyes. Who knows, the stars could align and that could happen (Certainly getting that vibe from Cadets already), but more often than not there's some faltering and weaknesses. You can't have weaknesses (well.....I guess Crowns percussion in 2013) for more than 1 corps to beat them. I mean, you can list their losses over the past 7 years on a pretty short list. We'll see. I'll reply -- by "judges buying what they're selling" I meant design. That team -- as good as it is -- ain't getting any younger. So eventually there WILL be a big "shake up" in the design team. Yes they draw talent and that will keep them from falling too far when it happens. But everything -- even BD's finishing in the top 3 -- changes eventually. Of couse that assume that there are enough hungry teams waiting to push them out. I happen to think there are...

OTOH I could see Cadets and Crown duking it out for first this season.

I'm excited to see what Crown does. What I've heard fits them like a glove but is still fresh. Cadets sound like its one of their really on years. flammaster
BD is so gunning for the Sanford trophy this year! They are on fire. I really like what I heard about Bluecoats.

Just like all the Cadets alumni who are spread all over the DCI landscape, there must be many disciple's of the BD lead staff able to continue their success. Undoubtedly there are. But as we saw with the Cavies, lose a key piece and it's time to start over. Of course start over does not mean "from scratch". If you think they aren't planning for tomorrow, you're nuts.

Didn't think about that.......heaven knows how many they have being trained, groomed into the future staff.
