doppeljr
Good point gentlemen. In the 50 years of DCA only once has a corps gone from third place in prelims to first in finals, until last night. That year was 1986 when Bush was third in prelims and took first in finals. In 1986 the Cabs were tied for first in prelims with Steel City and the Cabs dropped to third in finals. Last night, the Bucs went from third in prelims to first in finals and again the Cabs went from first in prelims to third in finals. My friend Dave Linton was in Bush in 1986 and is on the brass staff of the Bucs. Congratulations Dave! Oh, and one more curious thing. The two times this happened it occurred on August 31st. Now back to your regular programming. Thanks a lot John. It was a great night for drum corps. Dan McGrogan, also from the Bucs Brass Staff was on the other side of the fence in 1986. He was in Steel. What are the odds of us being involved in this one? Anyway, a great night over all and a heck of a lot of fun. Thanks.

Bucbari
Here is what I was able to find. If any of my numbers are off, please correct me. The first DCA perliminary competition at finals was 1967. The Hurricanes won both the perliminary competition and the championship The first time a corps lost in prelims and went on to win finals was 1984. Reading won prelims with a 91.20 and Hawthorne won finals with 92.40 We did not win prelims outright 1984. We tied with Cabs. Trust me that was my 1st year with Buccs
Ron H
Anyone else noticed guard recaps between prelims and finals? How did MBI slip from 2nd to 5th? From where I was sitting there where incredibly strong and even stronger in finals. Seems strange. Not to mention that in prelims one judge had MBI first in Visual Effect and the other had them a distant 4th. But that's the way the score bounces. camel lips
Cabs. Easily You can't tell anything from a video. You have to be there. Now where have I heard that before :):):):)
Kamarag
You can't tell anything from a video. You have to be there. Now where have I heard that before :):):):) I think he meant *you* can't tell anything from a video, and if I recall the thread correctly, *you* hadn't seen anyone live at all.

JoeDz
Hmmm ... is that even allowed here? After hearing THAT, I'd love to have access to every judge tape for every corps. Not only was it educational (and waaaaay above my head), it was entertaining as well. His encouraging comments were sprinkled with constructive critique. It felt like he was really "with" the percussion section.... thanks for sharing.....
