GeneralTsoChicken
I think someone should do a show that features the music of Mike Forbes and Sotto Voce Tuba Quartet. The Cosmic Voyage and Consequences would translate very well to the drum corps idiom. Here's what I'm talking about. http://www.tubaquartet.com/audio.html Edited June 29, 2011 by GeneralTsoChicken
And in first place~
I believe so, but noone said it had to be new music Some people want a return of the classics, and thats fine Count me as one of the ."some people". I would much prefer that to some what we get now. But the days of those classics are long gone, unfortunately.
Lance
...I'm hoping that people will put up pieces that have never-or at least, rarely-been done... started this thread awhile ago, and this was in the opening post. just a little reminder about the spirit of this thread. congratulations if you prefer tried and true classics. i have a long list of those that i love, too. this isn't the thread for that. DrinkinOuttaCups
I'd LOVE to see a corps tackle Mahler's 6th Symphony. If you haven't heard it, here's some samples... (1st movement)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBzOUzl4oyE (4th movement) There's sooo much material that could be used and turned into a really entertaining drum corps show...yes, it would be kinda "dark" (it is, after all, nicknamed the "Tragic" symphony), but I think it could work really well. There's a lot of potential.
FHdork
Mahler 6...75 minutes, approximately - IMO, Mahler is generally too long in his development of ideas to make effective drum corps...and I include Crown's recent soiree in that...nice sounding though it was -

skywhopper
I'm pretty sure this is discussed earlier in this thread if my memory serves, but Janacek's Sinfonietta sounds like it was written with drum corps in mind. Looking at corpsreps it appears a corps named Jester performed it in 2005. SCV? Crown?

FaustianMachine
Someone should feature "4'33"" by John Cage. It will be a show based on music within the absence of music.
