FHdork
<Janacek's Sinfonietta sounds like it was written with drum corps in mind.> yea verily -
AmFlag61
A truly overlooked Brass showcase - Tchaikovsky's "Capriccio Italien". And call me crazy, but I'd love to see any corps closing with "Xanadu".
bmt2116
I was just listening to something today and thought that it could really make some amazing field music if arranged properly. Anybody know the group Jonsi? All of their songs have this bright percussive sound that could translate so well to the field. I could just hear the bluecoats taking something like this on.

BoyWonder1911
Has anyone mentioned Messiaen's Turangalila Symphonie? More specifically would like to hear the 5th movt, "La Joie du Sangre des Etoilles" (The Joy of the Blood of the Stars). There is a real nice version of it on the site that shall not be named. Look for the recording with Aimard/Davis and the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. It's astounding.
Lance
somebody took the time to orchestrate this. i'm only partially joking about a corps doing some of this:

Since everyone says DCI is dying, it's fitting, isn't it? In all seriousness, an amazing piece of music, especially when you consider it was written in a concentration camp on a broken piano. Farmboy
When I heard PR was doing Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet, I was really, really, really hoping to hear some of this (alas, no): http://bit.ly/mOKDlg (clip should start at 2:11, the good part runs through 2:48)
skywhopper
Has anyone mentioned Messiaen's Turangalila Symphonie? Ooh, good call. And it actually has a genuine electronic instrument in the score, the ondes Martenot.
