I'll just post this here from the Cadets thread . . . thanks Gabe.

Wow, so it is true. At some point in the past week, it seems like fifty pages or more were added to the Cadets thread, and I just couldn't keep up, so I was never sure what was true and what wasn't. A week ago or so, there were a handful of posters throwing out tags like "breakDCP" and "blackout", but most of the others pointed to something Hopkins said on Facebook which seemed to indicate that there would be no uniform change. Then in past few days, everyone seemed to believe this change was coming, but I never saw what turned the tide.

They were very very loud.

The guard was terrific and the crowd loved the whole thing. Standing O before the final notes.

Thank you! I was worried about how they'd do with such an early performance time

Carolina Crown:

None of the videos online do this hornline justice; the amazing intonation that the entire corps achieves from start to finish is something that needs to be seen live. Their percussion, however, is wanting; while they crisped up as the show progressed, they were not locked in at the beginning, which is concerning considering that their percussion feature is the first thing after the opening statement.

The Beethoven was fabulous; a few videos online told stories of cracks during the solis, but there was none of that tonight. The opening impact was extremely solid.

The percussion break was less than stellar; there are a lot of notes, but the battery really needs to clean up if they want a serious chance at challenging the title amidst this year's field.

The Verdi was very good from the horns, although I sensed a little but of tiredness in the longer notes; where I wanted more push through the tail of the note, I heard the slightest hint of some members pulling back. The percussion was starting to get clean during this movement, although the book is not as difficult as their feature. The front ensemble mic balance is a bit too high at times.

The ballad is gorgeous; the flugelhorn soloist is beautiful, and the effect of the horns underneath the red cloth is great.

The Beethoven reprise was mixed. The fugal brass feature was a bit unfocused; I heard them in the lot and there were issues that they were going to address. I'm confident that this will be fixed.

The ending is very powerful. Will edit with more thoughts later.
