Best Back -to-Back Ballads?

Recommended Posts

I'm inclined to go with SCV 1999 & 2000...

1999: Symphony No. 1 by Samuel Barber

2000: Agnus Dei (Adagio for Strings) by Samuel Barber

Some very powerful stuff in both.

What others?

Interesting topic.

I would go with

BD 1989-If We Were in Love

1990-All the ballad material from Tommy

I would also go with Cadets 2000 and 2001

In third I would go with the ballad material from 1997-1999 Madison.

Some of my selections aren't stand alone "ballads" but the concept is there, so I use them.

I am beginning to sound like a homer, but Bluecoats 2014 Hymn of Acxiom and 2015 Woods.

My votes go to Bluecoats 2014-2015 and Blue Devils 2014-2015. Special mentions to SCV 2013-2015 (Three years!), Phantom 1993-1994 and Phantom 2006-2007

I initially thought the topic would be back-to-back ballads in a single show - off the top pf my head I cant think of any , unless you go back to the 80's - one that coms to mind is Sky Ryders doing 'Over the Rainbow' & 'Rainbow Connection', but that was more of a medley.

hmm - must ponder further

Phantom regiment shows are basically constant ballads.

In Kiwanis Kavaliers' 1997 "Evita" show the corps ended the show with first "You Must Love Me" (from the film) and then "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" and ended on a soft/dark ish note.
