Fran Haring
At venues that serve beer, prices per beer should be capped at 25 cents. Guaranteed to increase attendance. Edited September 30, 2015 by Fran Haring
Jeff Ream
if you want performance to count more, look at how they do it for A class guards in WGI or the Music sheet for WGI percussion. the problem with drum corps, especially for visual, is taste and style of drill to many is automatically equated with good performance. if you like a cadets frenetic movement for 11 minutes show, then of course that's great and performed well for you. If you like how BD does it, same thing. or Crown, who's kind of a mix of both. So really, in essence, it all comes down to the design anyways, but people can't admit it.

And great design means squat without the performers bringing it to life on the field. I agree -- it's ALWAYS been about design (even in the dinosaur days). Those designs may have been (visuallly at least) less sophisticated but they were no less important to getting a successful result. Designers write, staff teaches, members perform. Same as it always was.

The interesting thing is that this year, the difference between first and second and also between third and fourth at finals this year was....wait for it....performance.

YES>Yet for some reason we love to pick things apart to the smallest fraction of a tenth to separate every little thing but also forget that however it gets picked apart one thing doesnt work without the other at the highest level

xandandl
Chief judge, Supervising judge, and artistic director positions should have term limits of no more than 6 years. Retro-active and cannot be re-appointed to consecutive terms. 6 years derived from 22 as the age-out for members with many major corps having a 17 year old policy as minimum [in practice if not in stated policy] means one marches 6 seasons (if one can afford it.) Same number of years for a US Senator, many governors, etc. Edited October 2, 2015 by xandandl
