I would be a surprised if they don't have the best and most demanding design. It's off the hook and they are good. They're definitely very good, and for the most part I like the show. I just think the corps I have ahead of them (which may or may not include Boston) are going to be REALLY on fire this season. We'll see how it all shakes out! I also just watch Crown's full run. and BD's full run. Different level of guard from Crown, BD, no doubt SCV and Cavies will be the next level. But Boston is fantastic, just not the next level. But Fantastic! So what would you say would keep Boston from reaching the next level? I'm thinking their guard is there for sure. But I'd love to know your thoughts on what the corps hurdles are for advancement to the upper tier? Thanks in advance.

Quick question, how do predictions this season compare to last sEason at this point? Was the hype this "real" for each corps, and was the contest predicted to be this close and hard to pick? Or is this an abnormally talented and entertaining year of 2017? 1. Bluecoats - Many had them 1-4. Lots of hype because we had no info on what was going on with them. 2. Blue Devils - 1-4 with lots of hype an naysayers alike. Many calling for the 3peat while others being informed how silly it would be to predict BD not medaling. 3. Carolina Crown - lots of championship hype. 4. Santa Clara Vanguard - lots of predictions that they finally break through to medal and others saying they stay in the same place. Not much hype because we basically never get anything from them. 5. The Cavaliers - lots of 7-10. I think the craziest of homers had them in 6th place. A bunch insinuating 9th was based off of the sickness and moving up was inevitable, and some calling the end of the corps and they had fallen off into obscurity. 6. The Cadets - basically anywhere in the top 4. We had no indication that they wouldn't take even a poor show concept and execute it on a championship level. Lots of hype and many championship predictions. 7. Blue Knights - lots of hype mostly stemming from the previous years show. Many predictions from 5-8. When reports from spring training came in there were lots of nervous positivity with not much of the show on the field. 8. Phantom Regiment - like every season many predicated they would recover and be as high as 6th and on their way up again. Quite a few really unimpressed early on and expecting them to drop to 10th. 9. Blue Stars - hype for the guard, as is the case every season now. Not much conversation about the rest of it aside from the $5 uniform reveal and some nice leaked clips from spring training. From about 7-11. 10. Crossmen - homers had the hype for things to come and detractors had them out of finals. Mostly anywhere from 10-14. Most saw them as the corps that owns the 12th spot now and it was there spot to lose if they underperformed. 11. The Academy - no one had them in 11th (it seemed like, there might have been someone). A good amount of hopefuls had the corps in 12th coming off their entertaining shows. Many saw the corps as young and not pervasive with talent, but boy did they turn fans to believers by early July. 12. Boston Crusaders - lots of timid hype. On these boards homers tend to get berated for their views. I think some saw them up in the 5th range but most saw them around 9 or 10, or as low as 12th.

I didn't believe it myself until I saw a high quality video of a recent run. Guard is fantastic. And I mean fantastic, both in performance and design. Drill design is demanding and well designed. Love the music book. If I had to put money I where I think they will place, I would say 5th or 6th depending on Cavies. Total package. Hype is real. Devils: They are awesome of course. Guard book is great. Lots of synchronized guard work - lot's of rifle work. Of course, they will challenge. Flight of the Bumblebee is off the hook. Crown: Anyone that was worried about them needn't be. What a drill. OMG. High angle video. Super super demanding - they are flying all over the place, but it makes sense with the music (i.e. not demand for the sake of demand). So well designed. Of course the brass is amazing, and the guard hasn't lost any ground. Don't know a thing about percussion so can't comment there, but they will be right up their contending for the title, no doubt. Cadets: Like last year, I think their visual design is really going to hold them back. They are really suffering in this department, IMO. I think this is going to be a rough year for them from a competitive standpoint. I really don't see them bettering their placement from last year. In fact, I think they will fall a few places. Ive heard BDs "Flight of the Bumblebee" it is insane! People aren't ready for it! BD can start slow every year but you better believe they'll be ready by the 2nd Saturday of August.
