Ho hum... This page speaks to the reasons why many people stop coming here to post and chat. A few seem to think they know the truth and reality and must come to post on a daily bases their opinions on the Cadets short comings as if we here are stupid and are living in a cave.. We know the members come here. We know it is better to stay positive and supportive. I hope that these people will take a chill pill, think about how negative and hurtful their posts are and how annoying they are to most of us and maybe find something else to do than come to DCP. You have every right to post your opinion. It is just the way in which you do it ALL season that annoys the poop out of many of us.:whip::whistle:

I really think people keep forgetting it's just band.:spitting:

Exactly. I know when I marched I had a lot more to worry about than what people outside the organization had to say. I worried about pissing off the instructors or worse fellow marching members. And, when that happens it's a lot worse than what people have to say on here.

2009 SCV and 2010 Cadets are the gold standard for obnoxious synth bass.

BD 2017 is approaching that in the opener of their show

. They are a corps that gets passed up, and it's been that way since 2011.

You may be right on where they place this year....who knows? Personally it doesn't bother me, as long as the MM are having a great time performing.

But, since 2011 they have one 6th, two 4ths and two 3rds, hardly a disaster in placements. The five years before 2011 they had one 2nd, one 3rd and three 5ths, the exact same average placement...4th.

I can't believe it. Cappy criticizes BD. Gotta be a first.

Maybe, but at least they didn't microphone their whole horn line and shoot it out via the speakers. They need to reign that in AKA change the rules

There are others that could be added to this list as well. Both BD and Cavies come  to mind. Having seats in the first row on the fifty for years, I can attest to how loud it gets; it's like a rock concert. Both our bodies and seats are vibrating hence the ear plugs. Many times you can't even hear the brass lines over the speakers. It's like hearing that person coming down the street with the bass so loud everything is vibrating. IMO it's going to be difficult to put the toothpaste back into the tube, but turning it down a notch or two would help.

<rant> Yeah, it's a shame that this activity caught the amplifier/speaker bug. It's even in symphony halls. I'll take unplugged, natural music any day over "music" polluted with electronics. It's what made me like drum corps music so much more than other types... because there were natural and expected limits of volume to any given sound. Now there is none, and our ears are more at risk. </rant>

That being said, the Cadets' live performances I've seen tended to have a tasteful use of electronics compared to others. It probably helps that they are accommodating such a wide variety of musical voices and are paying extra attention to balance issues.
