Carolina Crown 2017

Whom did he work with in Nashville?

I think X is talking about Capella (Koi reference) -- they were from Nashville.

FWIW I just chose to list a single guard program from last season for each designer because it quickly descends in madness otherwise. Even younger instructors can have their names associated with many, many programs, Instead I thought it most useful to provide a sample of their current work.

Some of Rick's very creative programs were in other than World Class shows several years back particularly when he worked guards in Greater Nashville and Evansville. I know he had a hand in one show around a koi pond and another that used "drumspeak"/streetslang rather than music. The shows were extremely creative but the guard personnel were young and still learning. He's very talented and I'm glad he's found his niche.

I remember when he ran the guard at Phantom in 2009 and 2010.

yup, and I wasn't being coy. :augen51:

Sorry only vid I could find. Upstairs vid is worth seeing. Good use of color, body, form (and koi pond.)

I can simplify my list by saying 90% of shows on FN.

Last night before going to sleep, I checked this forum. Granted, I took a 3mg Melatonin supplement to help me sleep but I am sure you had a post on this thread (somewhere else?) that asked a question to a moderator.

This morning it was gone.

I'm sure it wasn't the Melatonin affecting my perception.....

Idk. That was a monster guard staff and Keith really was there when Crown was becoming Crown. Not sure it's as easy as you say to replace. Still think Crown has a rebuilding year in 2017. Great brass, Jeff will write a great drill BUT Cadets had all that (OTT award brass, top percussion) a Jeff drill and still came in 4th in 2015. I Just think you're ambitious with the new guard and viz people but I get it. I did the same for the Cadets 2016.

monster guard staff ? it was largely a rotating set of crown age outs. remember Adam Sage was caption supervisor in 09-11 with his staff. there were two constants. 1) M. Townsend 2) the members. i think they will still recruit great talent. i think the '17 staff will write great work. will it be Michael's work? nope. but it will be top tier. and the performers will come.

as for Keith, it was hit an miss wasn't it ? there were times when design choices clearly held the corps back a little. also remember it was a design TEAM; two members of that team are gone but other members are not. certainly no guarantee's here. but IMHO they're not gonna miss a beat and will be stronger in a caption that occasionally hurt them a little (VA).
