The delay has been to try to license as much as possible. Anything that was cut was only done so because the sync rights were denied. Everything else has been licensed, including a cut we were going to make in Phantom yesterday. But like something out of a prison execution movie, the red phone rang, literally 3 minutes before the edit session and I was told the piece was licensed! A stay of musical execution! Trust me, there is no lack of effort on DCI’s part to deliver the full Monty. But when a rights holder says “no,” their wishes have to be respected. For the record, this may be my favorite surround mix ever. AND, the best Easter Egg hidden on the disc ever. If some year in the future, if there is no more rights issues for DCI/corps, will the corps, who had their performance chopped up, have a full show DVD marketed? That would be real nice and to sweeten the pie add a Multiview option so each of the four cameras are shown in their entirety, nothing is missed. That's what BOX 5 did for DCA this year. I prefer that over the high cam or multicamera streams way better for drum corps. In addition if past years still have their individual camera video data in tack. I would take it all in Multiview. Bring back Phantom's company front at the end and still show the Drum Major Fight at finals. That would be one heck of a Legacy Series. Tom, In case it has not been said yet.....thank you so much for taking the time to respond to us here on DCP and update us on the process! You do great work, we just wish that somehow all of it could be seen years down the line. Thanks for all you do! Darren

If you were lucky enough to get a copy out of the first run, you have no cuts to worry about. The licensing in question was revoked AFTER the first set of DVD's were pressed. Any produced after that point contained the "new" cut.

Back then we had the Fan Network where you had the whole season archived. In Atlanta they didn't put in the ending where the drum majors had their spear fight yet. That feed stayed on the corps where they were in a company front stepped over the guard and said "We Are Spartacus" that was the goosebumps moment for me and I went to Bloomington to see it live. When the DVDS came and the feed was just the drum major fight. It was and still is a let down without the video of the corps at that point in the show it wasn't there, for me. BOX 5 addresses that with a stream of all four cameras on one screen, no action is lost and a disk would give capabilities of watching all 4 or just 3, 2 or one feed on your display, whole show total control. If the past dci's still have the video that landed up on the cutting room floor they can reconstruct the old shows in their entirety also put out composites by editing content from other shows where necessary, a worthwhile project.
