If it's what I'm also thinking, I hope it's a slow-burn closer like in 2016.

Can’t wait! Heard Reading Buccaneers play Maslanka Symphony No. 4 last season and it gave me chills. Can’t wait to see what Cadets do with it! The original piece is roughly a half hour performance time. What other bands/corps/units may pull from it for a not even two to three minute segment might not be the same at all. Parts of the original (roughly five minutes worth once it has started) and (from about the 17/18 minute mark and after) ...depending on what version (Eastman Orchestra, Navy Band, UNT, etc.) one hears...might make fans of Cadets 2011 A&D very happy as Maslanka builds his unusual tempos on the melody of the Olde 100th Psalm, (Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow/All People Who on Earth do Dwell) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_100th used across denominational lines; music originally composed it is said by Louis Bourgeois (1510-1560.) The corps in question used it with tremendous impact the summer of 2011, and I wrote extensive expository background notes about its origin on DCP that summer. Of course the theme might be totally omitted on the field this summer. I have no insider knowledge on this..or this show...or this corps this summer... but just enjoy the 4th Symphony piece, especially the recording from the Midwestern Clinic and from the Navy Band; and my prayer enjoys the tune. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=547zbTOQ8-E Maslanka Part 2, first week of June and as I was saying... https://www.facebook.com/cadets.org/videos/607527099657721/ [maslanka 18:07 on] Edited June 5, 2019 by xandandl
