THE CADETS 2022 SHOW

Recommended Posts

Any corps not asking for money this week is leaving money on the table.  This is when ALL the alumni and fans of yesteryear check in.

It'd be like a college having homecoming weekend and not asking for money.  Heh.

Hey guys. I know I kind of have a reputation of not being the biggest Cadets fan especially with a couple "choice years", but I went to Big Loud and Live today and all I can say is...

 THIS. WAS. AMAZING! Maybe I'm biased because besides drum corps, swing is my favorite genre of music and I love vintage aesthetics. This had a lot of my type of stuff: interesting narration, storytelling, different genres/types of music, being based in pop culture.

I was blown away by this show and I really hope the Cadets can move forward in this direction in the future!

How about that guard last night. I thought they looked great, and glad the score reflected that. It's been a relative Achilles Heel this season (well, for a while) but they're cleaning up nicely and selling it. Beat a VERY good Stars guard.

Man, I am so pleased with their guard this year. I know they don't have a lot of "acrobatic" elements, but they're sooooooo much better than they've been in the past few years.

I might recommend looking up their 1995 show. It gets a bit patriotic/preachy at the end, but it fits with the show (the last movement is the boys going off to war in the 1940s; '95 was the 50th anniversary of the end of WWII, after all), it's not nearly as preachy/cheesy as 2014, the show as a whole does some wonderful genre-hopping musically, and the music will all at least feel familiar even if you haven't specifically heard it before (it's by this really obscure film composer named John Williams).
