skevinp
I can see it becoming a guard term, like when they go down the line throwing each rifle a beat apart, thereby creating a ripple effect. 1

I think you mean a riffle effect.
MusicManNJ
So what is up with percussion? After they made a big deal about all the changes to the percussion team and how this was the missing ingredient to Crown's success, they are currently placing 8th in percussion. EIGHTH! It looks like they made a mistake forcing Thom Hannum and his team out for something better(?). Many of the former Crown perc staff are at Cadets, and their percussion program is doing VERY well in comparison.

A) One judge on one night B) Very Young Line with a long break C) WE ARE CURSED choose any or all of the above! Oh and parting ways with Hannum was long overdue. The rest of the percussion staff? Well..s### happens. New writers were gonna bring their own people-- just goes with the territory. Certainly Travis and team were doing a great job at Crown with the books they were given. It’s a single judge at each show calling it each night. And with a fair few corps with lines banging well over what their overall corps tier is (Cadets, Cavies, Troop, Colts). Percussion judges are dealing with some interesting things this year. 2. it might be me, but the line looks pretty young. You’re going to have inconsistent nights with a book as complex as they have this year. Don’t forget, they got real close to Bloo already at one show. The Sanford will be either BD or Bloo so that’s showing me this can work on the right night. It’s about getting consistent 3. first year getting this crew integrated into the Crown design. There will be bumps. I love what Crown percussion is doing this year the Crown sound and am a big fan of what Mike Jackson brings to the activity.
KVG_DC
Also. I’m aware that percussion score anxiety is a legit trauma respond for Crownies! Hang in there.
