Let's hope he doesn't go stand in line at Lucas Oil for the bottle of water. Closing ceremonies at the Olympics in Paris next summer will be wrapping up by the time we see him back from concessions.

i feel like everybody in line would clear out of the way for the troopers' dm.  so that's a plus.  also, the vendor might just give them everything for free.  but the slow walking cancels everything out.

Haaa…said the same thing. Why even bother with the draw???

Pretty sure BD went third to last at the Southeast regional last year and still won.

Like I said back on page nine of this thread, doesn't matter what draw BD gets, people will complain regardless.

They'll be there on time since they're practicing how to lasso the moon.

Judging by what's happening in the Madison thread today, it could be alums tied to the spit being turned by fellow alums. That show thread has reached a whole new level. And it isn't good.

It's a shame too. One of the mods was very close to shutting it down. I like Madison this year too. I am always rooting for the Scouts.

Most folks on DCP know this and know how good Blue Devils are. But as many of us have said for many many years...when you are essentially the Boston Celtics of the 60s, 70s, and 80s of drum corps you have to take the criticism. BD will always be the hunted because they are the Gold standard in DCI. With that comes tremendous responsibility and a great amount of criticism. I personally do not think the marching members, staff, alumni and fans of the corps worry about the bickering they see here. Most understand that the general riff with other fans is that they just want to see someone else win. It's usually nothing personal against BD, they just want another face at the top. And that could happen but it takes a lot of work.

I more think completely random draws for drum corps would be best for the everyday shows. And maybe an expanded grouping draw during regionals.

I think so too. I thought it was much more exciting. Since finals were in Madison in '85, '86 and '87 and I was in the Jr. Scouts I always got to go to semifinals. It was exciting having corps spread out and a big one going on early. It made the day more interesting. Here was a snippet of '85 semis:

13. Star (10th)

14. Vanguard (2nd)

15. Cavies (5th)

16. Garfield (1st)

17. Madison (4th)

18. Bridgemen (26th)

19. Blue Devils (3rd)

So exciting.

Honestly, if I were to go to Indy now, I'd only show up for maybe the top 12 or top 15 corps. Call me what you like, but I just don't have any interest in sitting there for hours and hours waiting for the top corps to start. Now if it were random, I would sit there all day. Now, no.
